Battle of the Second Gens

As wildly popular as the C2 Corvette is, you can debate the merits of the '63 split-window versus the '67 big block cars as the kings of this magical generation all day long. But regardless of where you stand on that controversial topic, this beautiful '63 we spotted over at Bring a Trailer is well worth drooling over.

Rounded Out

Of course, the car's 43k original miles on its original 327 V8 is the biggest draw here. But the rest of the drivetrain rounds out nicely with a 4-speed M20 manual transmission and Positraction rear with 4.11 gears.

Dare to be Different

Saddle Tan might not be quite as iconic as red or black, but we think it looks just fine here, if not irresistibly charming. But then again, is it even possible for a C2 to look bad? Unless you chop one up, we say no.

Pair of Rebuilds

This particular car was also reportedly optioned with an off-road exhaust and those iconic aluminum knock-off wheels. Interestingly, it's also been rebuilt twice - once in the '80s and once in the '90s.

Minor Blemishes

Even though the fiberglass body was removed during both of those processes, the car was not repainted. The previous owner simply touched up the nose of the car to repair some minor blemishes.

Rather Tidy

On the inside, the Saddle vinyl features new carpets but an otherwise basically mint condition original interior. Much like the outside, it's quite tidy for its age.

Looking Correct

The numbers-matching 327 was rebuilt during the refurbishment process, as was the transmission and rear axle. Most everything looks correct, including the exhaust heat shields, alternator, finned harmonic balancer, hoses, and clamps.

Rebuild and Refurbish

This C2 has also seen some work in the form of a steering box, suspension, brakes, and parking brake rebuild. The knock-off wheels were also replaced when all of this work was completed.

Drive and Enjoy

The undersides of this '63 look basically as good as new, too. Here, the seller has refurbished both the chassis and suspension bits both for cosmetic and driving purposes.

Shining Star

Despite the many maintenance items performed on this classic Corvette, it's done well to stay in this great of shape over the years. And today, that means it's still a nice example of one of our very favorite body styles ever!
