Tesla Model S P100D Corvette Z06

In a recentĀ drag race showdown at the Palm Beach International Raceway, the AWD, dual-electric motored Tesla Model S P100D showed why it’s one of the fastest quarter-mile production cars by embarrassing a supercharged 2016 Corvette Z06.

We all know AWD helpsĀ in getting off the line, and that jump is clearly seen in the video below, resulting in an impressive 0-60 time of just 2.52 seconds, which set a new world record in the quarter mile of 10.76 seconds. Tesla has created a four-door sedan that can take on any car in the world and still hold its own, not to mention luggage and four of your best friends.

While the technology behind the Tesla brand is no doubt impressive, and its get-up-and-go cannot be denied, this video does not touch on overall driving scenarios such as braking and cornering, in which case the Corvette has clear advantages over the 5,000-pound sedan. With a hefty price tag and limited options to recharge the battery while traveling cross country, the Tesla is not for everyone. But if drag racing exotic supercars as you carpool your friends to work is your thing, then you cannot find a better vehicle than the Tesla Model S P100D.
