Gauge face rivets
Does anyone know where to purchase the correct gauge face rivets for the fuel, temperature, etc?
I contacted several "gauge restoration" website contacts and only 1 so far has responded (Clocks and Gauges) that they have the "correct" tubular rivets. I haven't seen a picture of the item they say is correct, but I would assume it's close.
However, they want $10 *per* rivet.
So I'm looking for alternatives. I found some 68-69 Camaro gauge face plate rivets but they don't look like the tubular kind here and here.
I tried email Willcox but got a reply back that they don't either have them or if they do use them internally don't offer them as a separate item.
You can get rivets on eBay cheap for $5 for 50 or so, but I'm unsure the size. It's a pretty small rivet from my measuring with a 1/8" head and maybe a 3/64" body? Could be a 1/16 body, not sure.
Any information would be appreciated.

For what it is worth....which is NO help...get the rivets you found and move on. I know your time is FREE and spending time trying to get a great deal is worth the hours of looking for them for a lesser cost...BUT...my time is worth a lot...and if I found them and had to put them in for you at my shop...I would be buying them and putting them in...because a half an hour more of my time trying to save a few bucks...actually would cost you more money.

I'm sure I read somewhere just recently that Willcox had them, maybe not listed but did have them. I'd give them a quick call

DUB is correct, back in November 2014 I had sent Willcox this email:
I thought I had read somewhere that they had the rivets. Maybe they used to and now don't or they never did in the first place.
Sorry, I do not.
Thank You, Willcox

Do you carry the correct rivets for the 71 vette center gauge faceplates?
I'm looking at switching out mechanical oil pressure gauge for electric, but need to swap the faceplate.

I searched the willcox site for "rivet" and couldn't find a good match and their Gauge page doesn't list anything either.
But that got me thinking about other vette dealers that get down to the little details, Dr Rebuild. I was able to browse through one of his PDF files of parts here.
DR lists: 68-82 Gauge Face Mounting Rivets (Pair) 9748152 for $2.00.
However a search on DR website for that part # comes up empty, so apparently he doesn't have them either, but that $2/pair is much more palatable than the $10/one.
This is so stupid for such a simple part that's obviously still in use today for the repros etc, I find it hard to believe it's that much of a specialized rivet.
The search continues....
[addendum] just emailed DR as his site says he doesn't have all products listed in the PDF on the "netstore" yet, so maybe I just have to call to order.

They are now, I just added them. I'm sorry for the error.

Well, you can call me 'Bubba' if you want...but I ground off the back-side of the rivets to take the face off, then after re-inserting them, I used epoxy on the backside to hold them in place. Worked fine for 7 years [and counting].

Did the same exact thing when I converted my oil pressure to electric.
Looks perfect from the front and solid as a rock on the back with
a strong adhesive.
