It says C4 in the title, but when you open it it says C3. Mine fit fine.
That's what I was thinking of doing. I think just a couple days here and there would probably be safe. It's parked inside at my aunts house for now, but I have a rain proof cover I can use that isn't intended for that car but it fits ok until I can get that one you suggested.

If you ever need help with your car, I have a good friend in Georgetown that can help you out with your vette mechanically. Just let me know. He loves 50's finned Chryslers and Plymouths.

I finally got the vette registered yesterday. It was nice to drive it again after having to let it sit for about 2 months. Now I have a nice view out of my bedroom window

Looks like the neighbor across the street has some type project in the garage.

He's got a newer Charger and a couple motorcycles I think.

Today's project was to get the rest of my car parts out of the car and clean up the interior. I also put in the shift pattern plate that I got for Christmas, and did what was suggested and touched up the edges of the center console with a silver paint pen.

The red testors paint I used on my emblems didn't hold up very well. I put more on there but it didn't come out very well so eventually I'm gonna strip them and start over. The polished fuel door didn't hold up very well since moving to Texas, so I guess I'll either have to wet sand and polish it again or just paint it.

I finally painted the driver's side kick panel, but I'm gonna have to take it back out and paint it again because I scratched it pretty bad putting the sill plate in

Hi r,
It looks like the dash pad has begun to tear too.
Did you loosen the 2 dash pad screws on the hinge pillar and the 3 across the top?
That allows you to get the tab at the top of the kick panel in place a bit easier, and won't further damage the dash pad any more.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. For some reason it never really occurred to me to do that. That would definitely make it easier to put that thing in.

I worked on the car a little bit earlier this week, and noticed that the paint on the hood surround is starting to blister. From what I could see, that's the only place on the car that is having that problem. Not sure if it's from contamination, or if it's because I keep it covered and the moisture is being held in and is messing up the paint. I don't have the tools to redo it and I don't know if I would bother fixing it if I did. I think I might just wait and have the whole car redone professionally when I'm in a position to do that. For now, I'm just hoping it doesn't get any worse than that.

Some good news: I found a new dimmer pivot on eBay for a good price so I bought it, so when I can justify buying the tools I need for that project, I can get my turn signals working again. The only issue is that it's for a '78 so I would have to come up with an alternative solution for the wiper switch. I might still try to salvage the one I have so I don't have to do that.

Hi r,
The blisters in your paint look similar to those that are in the photo in the post that started this thread.
I don't know if you've seen it.

Alan

I saw that thread a while back, that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the blisters

Edit: actually it was the second thing that came to mind. The first was a four-letter word.

I didn't do a very good job wet sanding last time I did it so I did it again this weekend. I did the whole car with 2000 and 3000 grit and polished again. I think the paint is about as smooth as it's gonna get now. I don't think I spent enough time polishing it but it's shinier than it used to be. Here are some photos I took while working on it:

I finally got around to changing the dimmer pivot. It wasn't as bad of a job as I thought. The most annoying part was trying to get the steering column lock plate back in.

I bought a lock plate removal tool off amazon a while back but it was too short so I used sockets as spacers to make it work.

Here's the broken dimmer pivot

I spent 2.5 hours on the whole project and I think most of it was spent just trying to get the plate back in. I ended up using part of the lock plate tool, a bolt from my steering wheel puller, and a socket as a spacer, and used my body weight to push the plate down while I tightened the bolt so it would lock the shaft in place so I could use both hands to get the c clip in place

The dimmer pivot I bought was for a '78 I believe so I don't have a wiper switch currently, and I think I screwed up somewhere during reassembly because the the lever doesn't activate the high beam switch. I don't really drive that car in the dark and don't drive it in the rain so turn signals were more important to me right now. I saved the pieces of the old dimmer pivot to see if I could fix it at some point and make everything work the way it's supposed to.

It's already been one year since I painted the vette. Can't believe how fast that year went by. Hopefully in the next month or so I'll be able to change the exhaust system to dual exhaust. I've been wanting to do something to the car for a while but haven't been able to justify it but it looks like I'll be able to do it soon
