1972 engine harness.
I am getting a new engine harness for my 72. The car was originally an auto but is now a 4 speed. Should I get a harness for the auto or the 4 speed. Is there a difference.
Also I removed the auto shifter but the safety switch still wired in. What do I need to bypass it.

Lectric Limited has two different part numbers separating the Auto and Manual BBC so I would assume there is a difference. (I am assuming that you have a BB according to your Avatar name.)
PN 29297 Auto
PN 29298 Manual
I have a Manual in my 72 BB and a new harness sitting in the bag in my shop at home. I can spread it out and take a picture for you if you like so you can see what is and isn't included if you'd like ? Unless someone else chimes in with more info for you.

Hi 540,
The wiring for the automatic trans. neutral safety is part of all dash harnesses.
So it was just taped in place to keep it from flopping around on 4 speed cars.
Will you install the normal neutral safety switch on your clutch pedal arm?
Regards,
Alan

Lectric Limited has a short jumper harness for the clutch switch that should be taped to the dash harness just above the fuse block, If you unplug the NSS at the console just tie it back to the harness. No need to cut it. I just replaced the dash harness in my 69 I'll see if I can find a picture.

I don't know if I am going to install that yet.

Engine harness doesn't deal with the clutch or NSS. That's part of the dash harness. But the engine harness might have a different connector/wire going to the transmission (whether 4-speed or auto).
