THANK YOU Fastguy!
About an hour (Because I left the seat and stuff out to put in the rest of the new carpeting.)
Otherwise? Like he says, about 2 hours. Right on the money.
If anyone is doing an 85, HELP! Package 75450 has the clip you will break. (may fit other years, I dunno?)
It is 4 bucks at Advance Auto.
W@@T!!

I'm late to the party but that's the best way to do it. I did mine before seeing that thread. I had the car apart so many times the thought it taking it apart didn't bother me so I figured I'd try to do it another way than the book. I did it much like he did

I’m stuck on the last bolt, bottom three were cake, top left needed a tool I did not have, top right I can’t imagine
a tool which will reach it, I can’t touch it and can only see it with an extendible mirror. What did you guys use?
mine is an 87.

A simple mod I made to the 86 was to pin the water control valve in the open position.
This keeps water flowing thru the core, rather than stagnating and causing corrosion.
When the summer gets too hot you can always pull the pin.

Another vote for The "Fast Guy Method". I did it on my 1985. About 4 hours for me total. I could not get to that top bolt on the cover! So I just wiggled the cover back and forth until the plastic snapped around the bolt. I removed the cover then. Afterwards I just put the cover back on and didn't use that bolt. No problem. Definitely buy that plastic clip for the rod on tne heater box door.
