Default Lower intake manifold gasket leak ??

i recently had an oil change and the tech noted that i have a minor oil leak. ive never noticed any leaks on the garage floor. they said its possible that it only leaks when the car is warmed up. seems like an oil leak would drip at any time as its a liquid. right? i had a diagnostic for the oil leak and they said they found a lower intake manifold gasket leak.

THE RESULTS OF THE REPORT READS AS:
i need a manifold gasket set and assembly install kit replace.
Kit $96.18
replace manifold gasket (B)
NOTE: to R&R intake add (B)
they estimate this job taking 2.80 hours. Labor: $210.00
coolant flush $49.99
engine flush $39.99

id like to get forum members opinion on this.
the cost of the repair and if indeed it sounds like this is a legitimate
diagnosis in regards to what could be causing the leak.
again, ive never seen any oil on the garage floor to indicate there is a problem.
thanks for any input.

Will you give me money too!!!! Sounds like your using a shop not familiar with C5's or likes your money in their wallet!!

There really isn't any oil that can leak from the manifold.. However,,there is a valve valley plate that can leak. Have never seen one leak but here it is:

A closure look reviles the real possible culprit (the oil pressure sender) which can and frequently does leak.

Man,,,if your not dripping oil,,,leave it be! Like they say in the navy:

If it ain't broke, don't mess with it!

Bill's right, I wouldn't pay/charge more than $75 for an LS6 intake install; there is no upper/lower intake on LSx motors

Lower intake gasket??????

It's more likely a bad muffler bearing.

Tell them you want dinner and a show first and definitely not on the first date.

Wow, sounds like a deal. I'd jump on it before they notice that they didn't charge you for the R&R of the distributor.

I find their description interesting, because my Pontiac Grand Am, 3.1 does have a "lower intake" gasket that I had to have replaced. Certainly sounds to me that they are not familiar with the LS1 at all.

There are good decient GM Techs out there but they are dificult to find. I get extremely aggervated when I hear of mis-diagnosis like this one. One GM engine does not populate all GM platforms. Alot of technicans seem to think so.
I fix my own stuff and freely help others.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT.
i really didnt think something could be wrong since ive never seen anything to indicate any problem. only after i went in for the oil change did this come up.
the one problem i seem to have with owning a nice corvette is that i find people always seem to think its acceptable to charge more for everything. everytime i ask what the charge will be for anything the first thing i get is , what kind of car do you have. many times its something that could apply to any car. for example, when i needed someone to install the new interior. i got estimates ranging from 600.00 to 200.oo on the install of the seat covers. im sure it doesnt help that im a female either. i got it done for 200.00 but decided to do the dash myself for free.
i belong to a corvette club here called the peach state posse and theres a member named chris,"woosch", thats has helped me a couple times and has taught me how to make a couple of repairs. he is going to take a look at it next week for me to make sure all is good. i plan on learning as much as i can about this car and will be doing my own repairs in the future.
its really a shame that people have no problem lying and cheating to line their pockets.
im reminded of that jiffy lube story a little while back. remember that one?
im glad i always ask questions. im so very glad ive been able to come here to the forum and get straight answers.
ill always come here and ask questions before anyone ever touches my car.
thanks again.

Yeah, welcome to the "Corvette tax"...

You did the right thing by asking around first. Most of us 'Vette folks like to look out for each other for that very reason!

Good luck with yours...I think most of our cars BURN oil faster than we can leak it!!!

Update. Im Sure Glad I Dont Trust Anyone I Dont Know.
I Always Ask Questions, And Its Always Has Been A Good Thing.
My Friend Chris Said He Would Look At It And Sure Enough, I Went To His House To Get My Psi Sensor Replaced And Guess What? There Was A Small Leak. The Problem Was Fixed Right Then.
Im Not That Smart About These Motors And Such But I Just Didnt Believe It Was What They Said And Really Raised An Eyebrow When They Said That With The Repair They Needed To Do, I Would Also Have To Have A Engine Flush And Coolant Flush. What?????? Why???????????
So There You Have It. Problem Fixed.
Thanks For All The Suggestions And Replys.

oil pan?? is this a response to my origional thread?
the only noticed oil leak was when the psi sensor was replaced. i already had that part
and was having it replaced anyway. my friend didnt notice any leak
anywhere else.
wouldnt the tech have noticed a leak at the oil pan?

Yes, reading your original thread (oil leak) and the "lower gasket", it would make sense if it were the lower gasket on the oil pan.

could this have been an oversite by my friend? is a leak like this easy to spot because the techs had my car on a lift for quite awhile.
also, wouldnt a leak like that show up on the floor? there has been no oil at all on the garage floor.
should i have it looked at again?
