Default LS6 Stock Valve Spring Replacement

What is the current hot ticket for replacing the stock valve springs on the LS6? I have some work coming up and I figured I'd do the springs and trunions "while I'm in there". I don't expect to change the cam now or in the future and the engine has no mods with none planned.

My preference would be for a) Comp Cams parts as they've been my primary cam vendor for a really long time and b) real-world experience vs. "I saw these in the catalog and they look great!".

Thanks!

I used PAC 1218's. You will of course get many opinions. Another good option are the newer GM blue oem springs.

if you don't plan to change the cam, there is no reason, at all, in any way, to spend more than $65 on a new set of GM springs and $40 on new valve seals

if they are indeed yellow you have new old stock

all the new ones since at least 2006-2007 are blue

would not install yellows, those were the most problematic of all the springs

The best spring to get is the ls9 springs which are direct replacements for ls6 springs. $80 from lingerfelter. They are also rated at .580 lift

check the valve spring failure thread

overwhelming majority of broken springs were the yellows

new set of ls2/ls6/ls3 blues is $65 from good dealers like scoggin dickey, don't chance it

from what I read it was the 02 to 03 years with issues. Gm had redesigned them after that.

Thanks, folks - looks like the GM replacement springs are the right choice for me.

correct, those were the yellow years, the new gm springs are all blue and come in a box of 16.

it's possible to order ls6 springs individually but it also would increase your odds of drawing on new old stock. i actually received a clutch switch from 1999 when i replaced mine. some of the c5 parts sold via dealer are from the production run
