matching number engine
Just an FYI..there is a guy selling a 62 Corvette on Ebay , that says he will supply a matching numbers engine to go with the car..His business is selling Matching Engines...
How can anyone be sure their engine was "born" with the car?

Why does it even matter ? If someone restamps it and you think it is original , does it change how you feel ?

Without a bill of sale, window sticker or build sheet they really don't mean too much....IMHO. Numbers can be machined off and re-stamped and I guess a trained I can spot a re-stamp, but paperwork is best.

I'd say the only 1 for sure is to buy Alan's beautiful Red coupe.
Original owner and I bet the motors original too.
Ok, I'm in trouble now

Hi marshal,
You're right.
It's the motor that was in it when it was delivered.
It's an example of a pretty typical pad surface and stamps.
Odd how there's very rarely much drama involved with base motor pads!?!
Regards,
Alan

I personally view this type of work, the same as VIN tampering.
you are making or coping an item to perceive it to look original, and it is Not.
no other reason for doing Block Stamping, other than to deceive, for personal gain/greed.

Hi GB,
I can certainly understand that since for 250/300 hp mid-year cars there's enough money involved to make working on the pad and stamps worth the effort.
Regards,
Alan
