Corvette E-Ray

The Corvette E-Ray is here but who is going to buy it? Corvettes take over the Mecum auction, and a C5 retro review are a few of the items that make our top stories of the week!

E-Ray, E-Ray, E-Ray. Hey, did you hear the new Corvette E-Ray was revealed this week? Of course, you did. Naturally news that big makes the list of top news stories, videos, and CorvetteForum threads of the week. But we don’t want this installment of the CorvetteForum Curated series to be just about the new E-Ray. So, we have other big Corvette stories for your viewing pleasure. There is a retro review of the C5 Corvette going up against its Camaro Z28 sibling. And speaking of retro. The C6 ZR1 is still faster than many modern performance cars. Is a ProCharged C8 the biggest bang for the buck Corvette you can get today? Corvettes completely take over the Mecum Kissimmee auction. Those are just some of the big Corvette stories this week.

C6 ZR1 Faster Than Hellcat

C6 ZR1

When the C6 ZR1 first rolled onto the scene in 2009 it put the world on notice that Corvette was hunting supercars. With 638 horsepower on tap and 0 to 60 times of under 3.5 seconds it was not making idle threats. But 2009 in car years is several lifetimes ago. However, it turns out that the C6 ZR1 can still compete even with modern cars with even more power such as the Hellcats from Dodge. Hotcars goes into much more detail around the performance of the C6 ZR1 compared to modern cars in a story posted HERE.

Must Watch Video: C8 Stingray + ProCharger = Z06 Slayer

The C8 Z06 is an incredible car. But it has a couple issues. One is that if you didn’t place your order for one back when Barack Obama was still President then you are out of luck. And even if you did place an order for one the car is very expensive even if you can get it at MSRP, which many can’t. But there is another way to get Z06 level performance. That is by installing a ProCharger system on a C8 Stingray. It won’t give you the flat-plane crank experience. But it will match the horsepower level and put out more than 100 pound-feet of torque compared to the Z06.

Forum Thread of the Week: E-Ray Is Great, But Who Will Buy It?

E-Ray

When the E-Ray was revealed this week the Corvette world was turned on its ear. The performance of the car is incredible. But it comes with a hefty price tag. So, one Corvette Forum member took to the forum to ask who will actually buy this thing? Is it only for Corvette super fans? Or will it steal sales from cars such as the Porsche 911 Turbo? It was even compared to the Tesla Plaid. Yikes. What do you think? Join the discussion HERE.

Corvettes Take Over Mecum Auction

C7 ZR1

The Mecum auction in Kissimmee Florida concluded last week. A massive 4,000 vehicles were on the docket. What is even more incredible is that fully 10 percent of them were Corvettes. There was at least one Corvette from every single year of production going across the auction block. Our friends over at Corvette Blogger wrote up a preview of this amazing event that you can read about HERE.

Must Watch Video: C5 Corvette Faces Camaro Z28

The Corvette has always been one rung up the ladder compared to the Camaro. Maybe you buy a Camaro when you are young and starting out. Then once you are established and making more money you step up to the Corvette. But as we see in this video it is not always a big step up. A 1998 Chevy Camaro Z28 can hang surprisingly close to a 1999 Chevy Corvette. This video is a fun look back at how these two cars compared when it comes to racing from a dig, and a roll.

Quiet Riot: Corvette E-Ray Is Here!

E-Ray

We told you last week that the E-Ray reveal will be part of the CorvetteForum Curated series this week and here it is. How can it not be? The first ever electrified, all-wheel drive Corvette making 655 horsepower and hitting 60 in 2.5 seconds is earth shattering Corvette news. There will be millions of words said and thousands of hours of video footage shot regarding the E-Ray from here on. But you can read all about our thoughts on the debut HERE.
