After 25 years of leading the team to wins across the globe, Doug Fehan steps down as Corvette Racing Project Manager.

The world of Corvette Racing will look a lot different going into the 2021 season. A report from Racer has suggested that Doug Fehan will be stepping down after over two decades with Corvette Racing. His titles and championships are numerous, too. Under Fehan’s guidance, Corvette Racing has won 113 total races, over 100 wins in IMSA and finished 1st and 2nd an improbable 63 times.

After coming on board Corvette Racing in 1996, it is fair to say that Fehan performed at the very top of his game, and stayed there. Corvette Racing through Pratt & Miller Engineering has had a significant presence in the development of the C8.R and future variants of the C8 as well.

However, at Corvette Forum, we did also see the Pratt & Miller firm was sold to the Oshkosh group the day prior to Fehan’s resignation. This recent shakeup has interesting timing with regards to Fehan’s departure, and makes us ponder if the two incidences are linked. Pratt & Miller is, of course, the engineering firm behind the Corvette Racing efforts. Racer.com implies, “racing activities on behalf of Corvette will not be altered or impacted by the sale.” This seems to indicate the two actions are not related. SportsCar365 has reported something a bit more unique. Rather than just stepping down, their report indicates a “a change in management within GM was one of the guiding factors behind the decision.” The end result is the end result either way.

CorvetteForum was lucky enough to interview Fehan at the beginning of the year. When asked about the future of the C8 program, it seemed he envisioned a long lasting relationship with the brand, and its motorsports program. But it appears he’ll be on to better things. As he never seemed to be one to retire, we’re sure he’ll be involved with motorsport development in one way or another. We look forward to sharing the news of Fehan’s successor, and anticipate continued success.
