Borrowing a friend’s Corvette should be a moment of joy. After all, that friend is letting you borrow a beloved classic sports car. Chances are, your friend would politely ask you not to be an idiot, and warn you to “keep the shiny side up.” In the back of your mind, though, you know that you’ll give it some wide-open-throttle as soon as you’re far enough away that he can’t hear it. Don’t deny it, we are all guilty of a bit of tomfoolery.

For Phillip Aleo, though, things didn’t quite end up as planned when he borrowed a friend’s Corvette a couple of years ago. For one, he somehow managed to lose control of the C3 and submerge it in a small pond in the middle of a marsh. Unlike the Corvette, Aleo managed to stay above water by hanging out on the trunk, but he was still stranded.

That’s enough of a problem to deal with, but Aleo’s problems didn’t end there. When emergency crews showed up, they found that he had an arrest warrant. Oops. Needless to say, he was arrested and later released on bond.

But who really had the worse day here? Aleo, or the buddy who loaned Aleo his ‘Vette?
