Best Garage Art Ever??? How Garage Graphics Turns Cars into a Life-Sized Works of Art

Transform your garage, home, or office with Garage Graphics’ larger-than-life automotive displays, available in sizes up to 10′ by 40′!

Disclosure: Garage Graphics is a paid sponsor.

A few weeks ago, I set out to create the ultimate Corvette owner gift guide. Alas, my research failed, and I missed a company, Garage Graphics, that arguably produces the largest and highest-quality automotive signage and displays in the entire industry. How big? Let’s just say you could order up a piece of Corvette art that’s literally longer than most two-car garages!

The Garage Graphics story actually goes back three generations and 130 years to the Omaha, Nebraska-based Renze Display. A company that today specializes in creating large-scale graphics and exhibits for commercial spaces and trade shows. Descended from a long lineage of car guys, Renze’s current owner, Doug Buchanan, wanted to combine his automotive passions with his family’s talent for large-scale graphics. Which led him to a fancy dye-sublimation printing equipment that can produce images as large as 10′ by 40′ (yes, FEET, not inches) for front-lit, back-lit, wall-mounted, and/or standalone applications.

And so Garage Graphics was born.

Dye-Sublimated or Brushed Aluminum

When you’re looking at Garage Graphics art, there are two different types from which to choose.

Dye-sublimated or brushed aluminum.

Dye-sublimated printing “uses heat to transfer and fuse dye into specially prepared materials – via two Italian 126-inch-wide fabric printers capable of producing an exceptionally wide color gamut and excellent greyscale.” (That’s printer-speak for beautiful, bold colors with lifelike contrast ratios. )

So, yeah, this isn’t just some poster material or cheap, threadbare canvas. It’s genuine, professional-grade fabric that can handle up to 1,2000 DPI of resolution. It’s also fire-resistant and machine-washable. (Delicate, cold-cycle wash; tumble dry on low.) Customers can order dye-sublimated artwork in small, medium, and massive sizes for front-lit wall applications, back-lit wall applications with built-in UL-approved low-voltage LED lighting, or as a stand-alone display. All of which include a high-quality aluminum frame that’s easy to assemble.

Can you imagine ordering up a photo that’s a one-for-one, life-sized version OF your actual Corvette? Now THAT’S art!

Garage Graphics also prints art onto brushed aluminum. Because, of course, when you’re elevating your garage or shop, real metal adds a touch of class and physical texture. Here, the sizes are measured in inches, rather than feet. And the printing process uses “flat-bed technology and UV-resistant translucent inks that allow the texture of the aluminum to show through. Display edges are all hand filed for a finished look, and each comes complete with hanging cleat, wall stand off, and all necessary hardware.”

Once you have your vision, it’s then all about picking a dye-sublimated display OR a brushed aluminum composite display. Dye sublimated displays are available in up to 10′ x 40′ in size, while brushed aluminum can be ordered in sizes up to 29″ x 59″.

First Impressions

Honestly, I want one (several?) of the brushed aluminum displays so freakin’ bad. I currently own several smaller aluminum posters from a company called Displate, but one of my main complaints is that they’re too small, thus there’s no sense of scale. So that idea of having something truly unique and beautiful in my living room or garage is super appealing.

But because my reactions to a paid sponsor might sound biased, here’s a quick sample review from a real customer…

Garage Graphics has transformed my garage into a very special space where my friends and I hang out for hours and enjoy our car hobby. The sheer size and the presence of those beautiful images just make the place. The installation was simple and done in a couple of hours, which is amazing for that size of images. I am more than 100% happy and would highly recommend it to any car enthusiast. It’s the next best thing to actually owning my classics. Just love it….
