Owner’s First Corvette Mod Is Mind Blowing

Because a little humor can go a long way. Especially when it comes to your first Corvette mod.

From amazing power and performance upgrades to small visual changes that make each Corvette unique, modding your Corvette is basically a rite of passage. Of course, there are a lot of people out there that treat every single change to their car as a major milestone that should be celebrated. Corvette Forum member C5North decided to pay homage to those over-enthusiastic owners with a post about his “first major mod” for his new C7 Corvette.

The “major” mod in question is little more than some black aluminum valve caps. C5North adds that he is “not sure how tuners keep up the pace” with their continuous modifications. It’s all tongue in cheek, and it’s a great way to get a good laugh.

Several of you guys have already joined in on the fun with comments asking how long the procedure took, difficulty level, and even a few calls for fully written tutorials and YouTube explanations.

By far my favorite comment of the thread comes directly from C5North himself: “Conservative estimate is a RWHP gain of 400-450. The complexity of this task was almost beyond me. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with a write up and my lack of video editing skills and a face that isn’t even suitable for radio precludes any hope of a YouTube video.”

All joking aside though, we really do like the way the black valve caps look with the black wheels. If you want to join in on the fun, just head over to the thread and chime in with your witty quips. We are already three-pages deep, and we see no reason why we should stop now.

And remember, if you attempt this incredible mod yourself, make sure you go get your car corner balanced and have your alignment checked. Who knows how the weight change on the wheels will affect performance afterwards.
