Street Race Leads to Wild C7 Corvette Crash That Sends Engine Flying

C7 Corvette Crash

This scary looking C7 Corvette crash turned the car into what is essentially just a shell, but the driver only suffered minor injuries.

While accidents involving Corvettes are not exactly anything new, it certainly seems like we’ve seen a lot more of them happening lately. Perhaps this is no coincidence, as vehicle-involved accidents have been on the rise for over two years now, with risky, intoxicated, and/or distracted driving often to blame. In the case of the Corvette, we too often see crashes occur because the driver is speeding or trying to show off, or in many cases, street racing. And that’s precisely what caused this wild C7 Corvette crash, as we can see in the video of the aftermath provided by OnScene TV.

The particular C7 Corvette crash was so bad that it left nothing more than what is essentially a shell of the fiberglass sports car sitting in the middle of the road with no engine – a crazy scene, indeed. The whole thing went down in San Bernardino, California recently on the 10 freeway, and we’re able to piece together the details from eyewitnesses, who say that the Corvette was racing another Corvette when it apparently smashed into a vehicle or another object, causing quite the chain reaction.

The other Corvette fled the scene, but this one and at least two other vehicles weren’t so lucky. The impact of the crash left debris from the sports car covering approximately a quarter-mile, according to police, including the wheels and tires, fenders and various other body panels, and even the engine, which was found sitting a few paces from the vehicle. Somehow, amazingly, the driver walked away only minor injuries, and no one else was apparently hurt in the crash, either.

Given how bad the aftermath looks in this video, that’s pretty incredible. But of course, as one might imagine, the driver is facing at least one charge for his transgressions, including driving under the influence of alcohol. It’s unclear if he’ll also be slapped with a charge for speeding or street racing, but we’d be truly surprised if that wasn’t the eventual outcome. Regardless, as if we needed yet another reminder not to street race or just generally drive like an idiot on public roads, this is it.
