Nothing gets a good car enthusiast riled up quite like a crusty barn find. But in the old days, people didn’t really seem to care about the actual process of finding a desirable vehicle, they only wanted to see the end result of its rescue mission. These days, however, folks love to see a dusty, neglected, covered-in- junk Corvette barn find even more.

We’re not really sure what caused this dramatic shift in the world of collector cars, but we presume it has a lot to do with the simple desire to hear good stories. And nothing tells a story quite like a car that the owner stored away for decades, only to be discovered by a barn find hunter like some long lost pirate treasure. So we thought it would be fun to round up ten of the very best Corvette barn finds in history here for your reading pleasure.

First 1957 Corvette Pilot Airbox

Corvette barn finds don’t get much more exciting or notable than the pilot car for the RPO 579E 1957 Corvette “Airbox,” which was originally yanked from storage back in 2007. Only 43 ’57 Airbox Corvettes were ever produced, and less than half that are known to still exist today. This particular example is the very first prototype of that famous model, making it perhaps the ultimate barn find. The car was treated to an exhaustive restoration (see top pic) and eventually sold.
