2023 Corvette Z06

Where does the 2023 Corvette Z06 sit on our list of most powerful V8 engines (naturally aspirated)? Right where it was meant to be.

At a time when most manufacturers have switched to forced induction and hybrid powertrains, the LT6 is Corvette’s way of not going quietly.  It is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine GM has ever produced for any production car.  Which got us wondering – where does it sit on the list of most powerful V8 engines ever built for any production car?

Our online research led to a website listing tech specs, comparisons, and rankings.  We also reviewed this list from MotorTrend of the most powerful cars for sale in 2020.  Next, we eliminated V10s and V12s, as well as cars with hybrid gas/electric powertrains like the Porsche 918.  Finally, we eliminated crate engines, sticking to what could be ordered from the factory.  The result was a top 10 list that includes some very impressive names.
