6. 1978 25th Anniversary Edition and Indy Pace Car

Chevrolet celebrated the Corvette’s 25th anniversary with a new glass fastback and two special editions. The 25th Anniversary came in silver/gray two-tone paint with sport mirrors and aluminum wheels. Overshadowed by the popularity of the Pace Car, the 25th Anniversary Edition included most of the same features and performance.

The Indy 500 Pace Car edition featured striking black and silver paint. The L82 gained 10-hp for a total of 220 and could be ordered with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. Both special edition cars created a buying frenzy and are worth a premium today.
