I haven't heard them in a few years, so I don't know what their current products may sound like. However, I have personally owned two different sets of their automotive component speakers, as well as a pair of their home bookshelf speakers way back when.
The car speakers were some of my favorite I've ever owned. Excellent SQ (maybe a little "bright" if anything, but fairly flat response), high output, good power handling.
The bookshelf speakers were these little 2-way jobs. They were pretty amazing for what they were.

DEI bought them out a couple of years ago. They still make good stuff...they used to be insanely popular in the mid 90's, but were waaay pricey. Now you can get the same quailty of their best line in the lower line of CDT, Focal, and Rainbow.

Its like they never did anything new, just rehashed old stuff. But alot of companies do this, so it really doesnt mean they have bad stuff or anything.

Lets just say, if I found a set of componants from them off of ebay for 75 bucks, id hop on it

They used to have a 5 1/2" componet set in the 90's (I believe the model was the 521s) that were awesome, used as a reference speaker.
They were $569 a pair , too expensive for my budget back then.
They also made awesome amps. 50 watts per channel in a 2 channel, 4 channel, 6 channel and a 8 channel configuration. They were very popular in competion cars in the 90's then MB Quart became very popular and ADS sort of faded away. ADS is still a very expensive speaker. I'd say go for them

they are not really that expensive right now...their flagship model can be had for $390 where as Rainbow has the References which are $7k and the platinums which were around $2k and Focal has the Utopias which retail for more than 1k and CDT has some speakers that are close to 1k so all those that you mentioned are way more expensive than the newest top of the line A/D/S/

as for how they sound, they sound very nice and IMO fairly neutral, they are not very aggressive...if you are serious i would try to find a place to audition them first before you buy them

uh, if you would of looked closer to what I posted, I said the LOWER LINE of all those models I mentioned. For example, the SLC 230 componant 5.25 and tweeeter, go for $240, and even cheaper, the
SLX goes for $180. Focal Access 6.5 165A is $169, and the CDT basic line seperates can be bought off of The Zeb for $125. So, yes, it can be done.

have you actually heard all those models you are recomending instead of the A/D/S/ comps and saying that it can be done?

actually this forum is to actually help people by giving them factual information. I can go around and recomend random crap without having any experience with it too but i dont. Recommending 3 different speakers from different brands that all have different sounds to them and then saying that they are just as good as the top line of A/D/S/ is complete anything can be done, there are some pyramid speakers for $20 on ebay but does that mean they are just as good cause they are also speakers? i didnt think so...if you are going to go around recomending stuff i would hope that you have some experience with that item or at least heard it and not just pulling it out of your ***

Ive only heard two of them IRL, not all. But you were already prepared to call me a liar...so anything I do say is pointless. But if someone asks "how good is this" ....should I just ignore it? YEAH, i'll just do that. But wait, "actually this forum is to actually help people" But thats exactly what you are implying - That I shut up and not suggest anything. You're right, as always, go figure.

If I listened to you, Id never want to post. You're constantly picking at everything I ever post, of which im growing quite weary of. Next time, dont post anything.

On to you next bit of rubbish

So, even if I say ive heard all three, you'll still call me a liar. NICE.

So you're implying that I know nothing. Ok. Fine, I wont post ever again on this forum......As long as you outright tell me not to, and people agree with you. Then, I'll have no problem with never posting a suggestion or replying to a question. You can go ahead and do it for me......better yet, how about you just go ahead and reply to all of the threads from now on. That way, no one will be able to appreciate your opinion but yourself. Well, go ahead and tell me...

suggesting products without using/hearing them first and not explaining yourself is not helping people, if you are going to make such a claim you better back it up with something instead of "so it can be done"

this is a forum where you are not the only member of, you dont HAVE to reply to everything even if you dont know the answer... i dont reply to all threads just for the hell of replying and raising my post count, i usually only reply when i see someone actually needs help or there is wrong information given

So, even if I say ive heard all three, you'll still call me a liar. NICE.
you never answered my question instead you posted a stupid picture and changed the subject, if you actually have heard all the components in this thread and have come to the conclusion that they are all the same and you should pick the cheapest one then i wouldnt call you a liar, i would tell you to go back and listen again or turn the bass down cause your ears are damaged because they all sound very different

dont throw a fit when you give wrong information and someone corrects you, all you are doing is making yourself look like an attention ***** with your long dramatized replies...stop acting like a victim when someone corrects you as it gets old....i dont hold anything back and i will give anyone my opinion straight up, if you have a problem with that than deal with it

You still didnt answer my question, so i'll reiterate it. Do you want me to post any more replies since im doing such a travesty to the corvette community by posting my opinion?

And since we're correcting, it's "throw"....not "through"
