One is thicker than the other. I'm sure there would be a difference, how much, not sure.
I just purchased 150 ft of B-Quiet Ultimate, 24 ft of Lcomp, and 54 ft of Vcomp. I will try and see if I can get two cars done with that but I think I will come up shy. I plan on doing both the inner and outer panels with the Ultimate and doubling up on the Vcomp where I can. The place I can't double up on the Vcomp I will use the Lcomp (better stuff but over twice the price ) My doors have been done already but will probably add more.
what do you guys have? The extreme or the cheaper stuff? Think the expensive stuff is worth twice as much? Would I be better off putting a layer of the FK down before this stuff or vice versa?
thanks!
Im trying the ultra cheap alternative, after I read alot about the different types of insulation on car audio forums. I picked up 50ft of eDead 1.5 at 1.50 a foot, and a 20% discount on top of that if you are a registered Sounddomain user
We'll see how it goes. The damn shipping on any of this deadener material is horrible, no matter what you buy.
how much was shipping? By Edead 1.5 do you mean the SE stuff? How did you apply the discount. That stuff is quite heavy compared to dynamat too a .5lb/ sq ft.
The heavier the dampening material, the better it does. The idea is to add weight!
Also, I would call ED and ask if it is OK to apply their product to vertical surfaces.
I bought smoe Edead V.2, and the site made no mention that it wouldnt work on vertical surfaces, so I was stuck with it when it all failed. And according to them, I should have called, instead of expected it to work as well as every other dampener on the market.
Secondskinaudio has a new liquid dampener coming out. Stuff is supposedly like peanut butter, and it hardens. Supposedly, this is the best way to go. It is the way i plan on going.
Kale, did you clean the door panels first with acetone or some other solvent? I dont think I read specificallly where you had to do it, but I kinda thought it was a given for preping a door for some adhesive.
as far as shipping for eDead, its $19 for shipping for my 50 ft....to apply the sounddomain coupon, you have to look it up on their site, get the coupon code, then when you are about to finish your online order, it asks you for whatever coupon code you have, and subtracts the 20 percent.
well i just bought 100 ft of the brownbread ultimate and some v comp to lay over it. Lets hope it works well!!
Dave
Since you will more than likely get your applied before I do, fill me in on your results, pluses and minuses. It would be greatly apperciated. Thanks Jay
will do. Hope to have it done in a week or so. I really want to drive the car some more before i put it in. ANyone in the NW burbs of chicago wanna loan me a DB meter so i can get results??
