I think this is one of the few subjects, when it comes to Corvettes, where I see people willing to cut major corners (on the product itself) on a project that is for the most part permanent part of a very high in car… I do not get it, but that’s just me.
LOL, found out that Elemental Designs is out of stock on the eDead...wondered why my stuff hadnt shown up yet My car sounds like a bag of rattlesnakes with all the interior out....I couldnt take it anymore.....I went to Hancock Fabrics and bought some polyfill batting (the pressed rectangle board type) and cut it up and replaced the original cheese GM insulation. Pretty sad eh? I couldnt take the rattles anymore
Did you have to call them to find out, or have they reached the very very basic level of customer service, and contacted you to let you know?
Oh of course not! I found out second hand around 8pm yesterday Elemental Designs were nice enough to take my money and let me order off the site anyways. I dont exactly know how long its been out of stock, but im not holding my breath on them contacting me.
It was charged right then and there, right off the site.
But Kale, you're going to have to forgive me, I used your likeness and paraphrased you on another forum. I named you as my "friend" in the thread, hope you can forgive me. I think you'll like the discussion and responses that transpired. Enjoy.
haha no problem. That's totally crap that they charged you before shipping it. I dont think they charged me until they shipped mine, but i dont remember
WOW I read that entire post. You sure did stir up some chit there. I also checked your link to ed on another post. I could not see the big deal about their products. The lack of voltage, THD, and freq response on their amp wattage specs make me wonder Their componet set looks wicked though.
heh, glad ya got a chuckle out of it. eD seems to have some good things going for them, alot of customers stand by their stuff. I as well noticed a lack of a bunch of technical data on the site. I dont understand companies that sell high end popular audio equipment, then not provide simple T/S params on their website. CDT is a good example of this. I tried to find out some T/S params for my Ef midbasses, and could not find any data on the site besides recommended sealed and infinate baffle enclosure recommendations, and general woofer size and fequency range response. Hell, I could of easily guessed those specs.
I did get a huge apology from Ben at eD in the end. He repetedly told me that he had been trying to call me on my cellphone, but its been on for days and havent logged any calls from Iowa. I really wasnt trying to stir up problems (seriously!) , it looks like eD was creating their own bad press. I just wanted to know where my damn insulation was...thats all. My post on SD was just to see if anyone else was having problems getting their stuff, and I clearly wasnt the only one.
Oh, and Kale, you're right about the eDead not being suggested for vertical surfaces such as headliners. Here is an excerpt of my email from Ben Milne (eD).

On surfaces where you mount it upside down the v1/SE just needs to be very well pressed onto the surfacce. If this is not done V1/SE's adhesive does not have a ability to do it's work. This is why we stress people spending time installing it correctly. If you visit www.icixsound.com you'll find TONS of users of v1/SE doing the job amazingly. It doesn't matter how much the surface is cleaned sometimes. Just needs to be done right. Those that do have few complaints. The reason we suggest using v3 on the roof is mainly becuase getting good results is as easy as painting it on. "

So, take that for what its worth...I guess..

I dont mind jacking this thread...it was on its death bed anyways. I think all rational people here agree that Dynamat is way overpriced, and there are compertable or even better deadening materials out there for less. You're more or less buying a name now. If you say "im sound dampening my car" the average guy will say "huh?"... Say "im dynamatting my car" and you'll get a bit more response. Its like Dynamat has become a staple name such as Xerox now
As far as eD goes, my eDead should be here tomorrow, so I'll tell ya how it goes. Ben asked me to stop by and check out their place,. Im sure that offer goes for anyone. Maybe you'll get a free tour out of it ?! They're in Cedar Falls, IA - so a bit out of my driving range....maybe you can check it out for us?!
Cedar Falls is only an hour away.......hmmnnn, maybe when spring hits I'll drive the vette up there. We both hijacked the thread but I think AGENT 86 won't mind. It is in the best intentions of audio knowledge.
I received my b-queit today, 10 boxes It will be a month or so before it goes in though. It is just to fricken cold yet.
I'm also looking forward to TT Vert install pics.
well im 99% done. I ran out last week so had to order more. I ordered some fat mat since it was cheaper and i only needed about 20 sqft more. i didnt really take any pics but they would look like anyone elses. I drove it w/ the door panels still off and not having done the rear wheelwells and the difference is VERY noticable. Anything under 50 and it sounds like a caddy IMO.
Elgin IL, heh, ive there way too many times because of the company I worked for. I got 3 free trips there on account of the programmers screwing up. Thats a nice little city your from. Im surprised that GM did so little to insulate the doors of these cars, even the new ones. Im sure your upgrade made it sound 100% better. Good job! , too bad you dont have pics we can check out.
