I bought an Alpine M350 amp with a 12" Alpine type R sub and have it installed in my car. It works properly and all, but it seems to need adjusting or something, because the sub won't go very loud before bottoming out or getting distortion or what ever it is doing. It just souds like crap at higher levels.
I've had cheaper equipment that sounded better before this, I don't understand what I need to do to clean it up.
It could be the xover and/or the gain. It could be the enclosure is the wrong size or it could be how you have interfaced with the stock radio. How is it interfaced?
Hey ive got the same amp with a sws 12 and never bottom out.
1. turn the gain to half
2. Turn the bass boost to 0 ( its the one in the middle)
3. Play with you crossover frequency till you get the sound you want.
4. SLOWLY bring you gain up, youll probally get to full power before you max that sub.
5. Now bring the bass boost up, once you hear it drop bottom, bring it back down a hair.
6. There you now have dialed in your amp and speaker....
What kind of deck are you running, do you have sub output control?
The box should be fine...it was used on another 12" sub setup that my buddy had and he was pushing serious power with great results.
I have it hooked up to my stock bose and I tapped the preouts in the back of the hu.
I think it is improperly adjusted because i do have the bass gain up what seems high after reading how you guys said to adjust it. I'll try to set it then get back to you all.
