Temporary C6 IPOD connection
I ran the input wires from the amps to my center console. I also ran the output wires from the OEM headunit to the center console. I also connected RCA cables to my IPOD and ran them to my center console.
Now, when I want to listen to the IPOD I disconnect the headunit wires from the amp wires in the center console and connect the IPOD wires to the amp wires. When I want to listen to the headunit, I do the reverse. I tried using two, two-way A/B signal switches, but the quality of the switches was too poor to be effective. Now, I just connect the wires directly to each other using a female to female adapter. (By the way, the reason I was using two A/B signal switches is that it was one for the front speakers and one for the rear speakers).
The sound in fantastic from the IPOD because of the direct connect to the amps.
BUT, the wires are a pain in the a**.
I am only going to do this until the market produces a real solution to the IPOD C6 problem. I understand from another thread today that the newest PAC Audio box is not yet workable.
If you attempt this, please remember that the gain in your amps must be set correctly (or you must carefully control the volume on your IPOD) so that you do not blow out the system with your IPOD. The output signal from the IPOD is much stronger than the output from the OEM headunit. Thus, if you aren't careful, you can really blow out the system if you turn up the volume too much on the IPOD.
