I went to Audio Express today and the guy there told me they could only put a sub in my c5 if I keep the stock head unit.He said all of the ones they have done in the past the adapters have burnt up in a short time, some only lasted a month.Has anyone else heard this?Anybody having any trouble?Anybody having good luck doing this? Thanks!
Also I did go to Custom Sounds yesterday too, they want to sell me JL system close to what you have and I'm considering it.The guy at Audio Express recomended that I use 2 8" subs instead of a 10" because of the type of music I listen to which is mostly classic rock and some oldies. What does anyone think about that?
The JL clean sweep is used to run after market speakers off the stock head unit and it works great. I have not heard of the Clean Sweep breaking down--- it is a great piece to add to your system.
I would suggest you get the JL 10W3 from www.woofersetc.com and the sub enclosure from www.proboxrocks.com (Search on Ebay $110.00 + shipping) The sound is so crisp and clean you will love it.
I did ALOT of research on the equipment and this is the best way to go, and it sounds fantastic.
Thanks!I know it cost more but did you check out the box JL makes for the C5?Looks pretty good.
The JL Box is the best, no doubt........ but I have the same speaker and paid 1/2 the price for the whole set up. Took the money I saved and bought a Clean Sweep............. now I can use my Ipod-
I wouldn't touch Audio Express with my worst enemy's 10 foot pole. I had a friend get his 350Z done there and he was not impressed at all.
Figure out what you want and can afford to buy and the forum members can supply you with all you need to know about an install. And you will save lots of $$$ to use for more toys.
Prism911,I'm starting to think that way after looking at what you can buy the stuff for online and what they want.Custom Sounds wants about $1,000.00 more for a system installed (that they recomended) than what I can get it online for. They wanted $2,500.00 for their system.$1,000.00 labor sounds a bit high to me.
