If it were me I would do the doors now since you are in there and doing all of this. 2 coats of that stuff should actually be pretty nice from the people I have talked to. (have not talked to the Edead guys they know better than I) And even though you do not have components yet your sound will improve with some sound deadening in your doors even with the stock speakers. Road noise should be cut down as well.
I start mine tomorrow afternoon want to fly out and "paint" mine?
i would love to be out in cali right now. its snowing as we speak... ithought it over and decided to do the doors, just gotta find out how to remove the panels
ok now heres a dumb question and i think i answered it myself but here it is anyways. does the window have to be up. Also if the window is down is there anyway to get it up besides hooking up power to it. Like is there a manual way to roll it up?Thanks

i tihnk vette essentials web site has a how to, i should put that in the faq
Not an off topic at all.....I was able to gut out my seats, center consol, armrest, carpet, trunk area, speakers, doors i would say less than 3 hrs give or take a half hour. Its real easy. There are very little screws. Got the doors apart and cleaned. now time for their first coat.
2nd coat on the car done drying as of this morning..... 2nd coat takes longer to apply bc the fresh v3 likes to stick to the last layer of v3 and its harder to spread so layers go on a little bit thicker. fej, ive got pics of the doors for you. These are a pain in the a$$. Its hard to get your hand and brush in there at the same time and you have to watch out that you dont coat any moving parts that are part of the window. Nice part about this stuff is that its water-based, so its an easy cleanup. Ok, back to the car this morning to apply coat number 2 to the doors and coat 3 to the rest. A gallon of this stuff for me did a car and one door. Also for anyone who is going to do this and hasnt before. The first coat will not go on the best and there will be spots where the original color is showing. Dont worry about this bc after the 2nd later is applied its all good. Remove the seat belts, its easier. Also try to remove and tie away as much of the harness out of the way as possible. To speed up drying time, put some fans by the doors and trunk to get the air moving over this stuff. the nice thing about the FRC is you can use a windo fan and put in across the seals on top and have the fan blow down into the trunk. If you guys have any questions for me, please let me know.
I have a few questions for you guys now that im almost done with the coarting. How much clearance do I have under the passenger seat. Also, how did you guys mount the amp under the seat? Thanks
that looks really great, i can't wait to read about how this product actually performs for you. i'm not sure if you posted this, but what was the final cost for doing this?
the sound deadner was $160 for 3 gallons w/shipping. but i hear that there is a forum discount on this stuff will have to check that out. This deadner is the biggest pain in the a$$ so far in this install.
So what is edead v3 anyway? Sounds similar to the other stuff. Was going to use fat mat but I'm not sure now. Probably change my mind a dozen times before spring.
I'm just doing a mock up now, installing speakers, hu, and an old amp I've had laying around. To cold in my garage to be ripping out the interior yet.
It's a 91 coupe. Have an Alpine 9845 hu, Memphis 5 1/4" seperates that I put in the stock front boxes, and 2 old Orion XTR8 subs that I'm going to put in the stock rear locations. Not a high end system by any means but it will be an improvement.
Thanks for the pics man looks awesome I have one gallon on the way so sounds like it will be plenty to do the doors with a couple of coats and the front half of the car hopefully before the crazy cowboy kit goes in. Really looking forward to getting this all done ... project starts tomorrow ...
Sorry, i just have a little bit. I ordered 3 gallons of the stuff and laid it on thick on the last coat so that I wouldnt have much left over. I have about a little less than a 1/4 of a gallon left. I will have to ask if I can get some money back on that discount. Im starting to put the interior back together. Just tryin to figure out the wiring right now. Alright off to bed. I'll have pictures of the amp install as well.
Hate to break it to you but they won't give you anything back its a pretty strict policy... trust me been there done that... you could try though mention icixsound.com and corvetteforum.com
Ok, quick question, i hope. I have the IDQ10-D4's. Dual voice- 4ohm subs. and an amp that is stable at 2 ohms bridged. Do I just wired the subs in a paralel manner? Or am I gonna screw somehting up here? Thanks
Both parallel = 8ohms + 8ohms = 4ohms bridged to the amp
Both series = 2 ohms + 2 ohms = 1 ohm bridged
Series + parallel = 2 ohms + 8 ohms = 5 ohms ( I think)
I can't remember what you have running them but I would check them out first at 4 ohms bridged to the amp to see how they sound. Next option would be each sub wired in series for a 2 ohm load to EACH channel (not bridged) to see how that sounds.
