I know you can get cancellation from different sized subwoofers, I already have 2 12" but I would like to add 2 8" in the rear speaker location along with some full range speakers, would that pose a problem?

By full range do you mean for your front speakers? IE components?

The problem with doing multiple "sub" options is the cancellation that you mention as well as the crossover points and management you would need to make that sound nice. You would also be pulling almost ALL of your very important midbass towards the rear of the car with a setup like that.

Typical scenario for crossovers in a 4 way speaker set up:

Tweet 3.5khz and up
Mid 300 to 3.5k hz
Midbass 80 to 300hz
Sub 80hz and down

Those are just generalities but you get the idea.

With a 4 or 5 way set up that you are proposing:

Tweet 3.5khz and up
Mid 300 to 3.5k hz
Midbass 100hz to 300hz (Or you could go 2 way and play midbass 100-3.5k)
8" sub 60ish hz to 100hz
12" sub 60ish and down (octave at 63hz common crossover point)

You would need at least a 4 way crossover and at least a 5 channel amp to be able to run something like that and make it sound nice. You would also need a headunit with at least 3 sets of RCA outs. Without some seperation of the frequencies even in the sub bass region you will get a muddy sounding bass (can't be 100% on this as maybe it would not sound muddy to you) Most 8's will not extend very low or play the low side of the spectrum very well but can contribute some very nice punchy bass (80-125hz or so)

How about the 8's in the doors?

yeah, eatrice had some 7" mid bass drivers in his doors. you could always get an alpine PXA-H700 to manage all of those speakers too :-)

that's pretty much what I'm looking for, more punchy midbass, because when I listen to rock, the bass is just overwhelming, and I would like to keep some rear speakers for sound, and add tweets like you mentioned, putting the 8's up front would be really cool, but I don't know where I would put them in the C4

Someone has pics of a small box he built right next to the door for a 3 way set up in a C4. A high end 6.5" midbass will play down to 80hz pretty easily with well deadened/sound insulated doors (the 7" Focal polykevlar midbass that I am using now I have playing down to 63hz on a 24db slope and it is doing so quite well). Elemental designs has a 6.5" sub designed for car applications (Ie doors etc)

Who has the box that holds 3 ways at the front doors Fej, I'm interested in seeing this... I have 7.5" dynaudio's in my doors, and the 3.5" tweets in the dash locations and 2 IDMAx 10's in the rear

Bogus is the member ID. Look here for the thread pics : http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1270691&page=1

He built a small box at the edge of the door frame for the 6.5" and put a 4" and tweet in the door ( I think that is the setup). Maybe shoot him a pm for pics?

I can see doing the lower portion, but in my 95 has more rounded door panels, and everything I've done so far can be returned to basically original in case I want to change things again, so I can see building a small box for some speakers up front. So it would be better to have the midbass up front? And just run a 2 way setup in the rear locations?
