Anyone know where i can get some sheet aluminum bent to a specific contour? The bends should be simple no complex corners. would a metal shop be able to do this for me?
What thickness are you using and how big of piece of aluminum are you talking about? Most big machine shops have metal breaks as well as most heating and air conditioning shops. The big machine shop usually charge a minimun of 30 minutes even if the bends only take a few minutes. The A/C shop generally will work with you better pricing wise.

i'm thinking 1/16"-1/8" thick... the piece would probably be around 10" wide and 10" long and 4" high. a total of 6 bends would be needed all along the same axis.
sort of like this:

I would try the A/C shops, they ought to be able to handle something like that. I have some friends that run dirt track cars and they have a 10' metal break that I have acces to and it really comes in handy at times. What your wanting should be easy to bend. Good luck!
well...i'm not telling you guys because if i can't make it work then i'll be embarrassed! you could maybe piece together what i'm going to do...well some of it... if you took the time to actually research all of my threads...thats the only hint ya get!
Roadtrip up to the bay. My buddy Keith can make anything you need out of metal, and I mean anything. You bring a cardboard mock up of what you want and consider it done.
wait...and then we can finally tune my system too?
i'll leave that option open though. one additional note... those aren't going to be hard bends more of like a lazy roll. the bends probably would have a 1/2" radius to them. would the a/c shop be able to do that?
i've thought of some other alternatives as well, but i think metal is the way to go
Keith has all sorts of bending tools, machines, and manual press type stuff at the shop. And if he doesn't my buddy Maier does 5 minutes down the road heh.
Let me know what you decide. Free tuning? of course bro

After you get your wife beater finished I'd recommend having the mods delete this thread !!
I am serious, but it does take a little more than that, I built the little cover around my HU with some sheet metal, a rectangular cube of steel, and a smooth hammer, and tin snips, some primer and paint and it looks like it was made for it.
