I just found a real plug and play IPOD interface that allows control of the IPOD by the radio controls. It is not an RCA interface like the universal prodcuts. It is the Neucleus NC-X2i by American international (they have been in the aftermarket Sterio business for years but do not sell retail). XM, NAV, and CD changer are all suppose to work. I spoke to AI and they are in the process of releasing the product for a wider set of GM cars including the C6.
American International is the manufacturer. The will be selling it through all of the national outlets Best Buy, etc. Now you can get it from LogJam...$189. Mine will be at the house by Tuesday. On the LogJam site is the installation diagram...just three plugs (one is into the IPOD)
Looks perfect...and I'm tempted to buy. But, my car is only 2 weeks old and I am not sure I am ready to start tearing apart the dash. Although I've done that with all of my other cars. Please keep us posted on how things go. Do you have the Nav?

That sounds awesome! So you will be able to use the nav touchscreen to control the iPod? If you can store/connect the iPod in the glovebox, that would make a neat and clean setup. I'm anxious to hear your evaluations.

I had the Alpine Ipod interface cable for my indash touchscreen in my Denali and it was probably the most useful purchase I had made in a while. I ran the cable into my center console where I stored my Ipod and allowed it to stay charged at all times. Having a thousand songs at your fingertips is always a plus!
Not to mention, adding and deleting songs from your Ipod is much easier than making new mp3 discs.
The Neucleus NC-X2i is suppose to work with NAV. Check out Logjam's site. I have 6cd and XM 2005 C6. controls of the IPOD are through the radio or the IPOD...your choice. Can can put the IPOD in the center Arm (what I am am going to do) or anywhere the cable can reach like the glove box. It also keep the IPOD charged.
it plugs into one of the radio's standard plugs. The unit itself (very small) you attach behind the radio...Velcro or double sided tape. you run the IPOD cable wherever you want...ie, the arm rest or glove box.
I just bought and installed something similar made by Peripheral for my Acura. Got mine from mp3yourcar.com but I see Crutchfield has started selling them as well. Basically it works the same. Digital connection that allows the use of the factory buttons while keeping the IPOD charged all the time. Threw out all my burnt CDs. Works great. Unfortunately it doesn't work with our cars.
I noticed the website for the other unit says it will only work the Bose head units. Wonder if they'll make a version for the standard head unit otherwise i'll have to stick to making mp3 disks.
I am calling them in the morning to order mine, havent got my car shipped to me yet.. I sure hope it works on my 06 with NAV because if so I am buying it...
The Logjam advert says that this unit will work with 2005-06 corvetes, with or without XM or Nav. Sounds to good to be true. I know the first solution developed serious issues with the M6's. I want to believe. We need a brave sole to try this thing out.
