Default Design Help Needed

I need to change a few things to lighten up the car for everyday use, but will still be doing an amp rack with quick disconnects for drag racing.
Keep in mind I need to put a roll cage in which slightly limits my amp space.

Currently have Focal Utopia 6.5 2 ways in the doors. Rear speakers are gettin' canned.... Yeah, yeah, I know its about time
I'm driving these with the McIntosh 6 channel (2x100 and 4x50)
100 to the fronts and 50 to the rears.

Almost bought the Mc M4000 (300x2 and 100x4)
But you can't bridge some of the channels so it wouldn't work as a 1 amp unit for all my needs.

I am going to dump the 10" sub/box and amp as it takes up too much space.
I will need to increase the bass from 70 Hz down. I'm running the Focals at 60 Hz and up. (Mfr. claims 50 Hz, but we know how that can sound at high volumes)

I am also considering going with 3 ways in the doors and tweets in the A pillars, facing the windshield for better imaging. Then, I have to figure out the bass. Maybe 2 8"s in the rears?
I just don't want a power hungry sub and don't need one as I only use it enough to take the strain off the fronts.

All suggestions appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Scott

Hmm maybe some IDQ 8's in the rear? Maybe even a small 'glass build out using part of the rear factory locations for airspace? Maybe a couple of those Ele designs 6.5" subs? Think scott said they need .2 ft^3 of airspace might not need to do anything but glass in the bottoms to seal it. You will not get tons of bass but you could use that space and not have to occupy the rear cargo area or add more weight. Hell you could make up a 3 way system using those in the front doors and tossing about 100 watts at them. If you want to get real custom could make little enclosures for them up there

hmm...well if you are happy with the single 10 and can supply two subs with 100-150 wrms maybe the elemental designs eu-700's would work for you too. I'm going with 4 for more spl but the research i've done has agreed that 2 6.5" are about equal to a single 10". it may not be your cup of tea but it wouldnt hurt to check them out. if you have plenty of time to hold off, i can give you a better evaluation of the subs when i get mine installed.

also this sub requires at least .2 cu/ft enclosure...i bet you could mount these things in the side storage bins, or do what i'm doing and put them on the sides of the trunk with a custom fiberglass enclosure.

I run 2 Fosgate fanatic Q 8's in my 88. They ar excellent for small dia. subs. Proly tuck in some stealth boxes in the rear corners.

I'm liking the dual 8's in the rear and would have to build removable cubes for them.
That will probably be enough bass to balance out the fronts.
I'd love to 'glas them in the rear, but don't want to kill resale. That would look wicked custom though with the right carpet.

Thats exactly what I'm starting to think. (Dual 8" sub pods in the corner bins)
.2 is certainly doable, but design will be questionable for acoustics. A good custom box for the bins would almost have to be "L" shaped to fit into the bin. But I'm not sure how that would affect driver response due to the configuration. I could always make the box in standard cube form and build a custom leg that form fits the bin as well.

Bookmarked
That dual sub + amp rack is a cool idea and gives me one piece to remove for all. With a set up like that I could actually have tunes on the way to the track.
All I'd have to do is pull the one unit out to go into the truck once I'm there.

Yeah, that seems to be the way to go. Scott's link on that Audi TT install is my favorite so far. (2 sub cubes mounted one on each end, with amp rack in the middle.
