Default My C5 Stereo Setup (So Far)

well for over a month ive been questioning people, reading posts as well as going to sites seeing whats in demand which tells me whats probably the better equipment.i bought a pioneer ts-w306c 1000watt 12" sub at a great price.found a eclipse 8445 head unit on ebay but got screwed out of 220 bucks from the buyer(long story) so i then found a eclipse 8455 head unit which i will be using.ive bought a zapco reference 350.2 amp for my front stage, and just purchaced some seas lotus refrence 6.5 mids.to finish the system off im going to get the zapco reference 500.1 for my sub, a subthump box, mounting plates from vrumvum for my front stage, use the custom plate with the led lights that hawk had posted, getting seas reference tweets and crossovers.then just wiring left.what does everyone think of that setup?

yea ive been on ebay since sike 2002 and have never got ripped off in over 750 transactions.i bought the deck as it was advertized new.when it finally arrived over a week later when i paid 20 bucks for priority mail because he didnt ship it when he said he did(good sign that when someone lies from the beginning its gonna be a bunch more to follow)when it arrived the manual wasnt with it, the trim plate wasnt included and all the wires were spliced and electric tape on them with a aftermarket harness from his car still attatched so it wasnt new.i returned the deck and no refund so i had him removed from ebay paypal account locked as well.paypal protection refunded me 175 of the 220 so im only out close to 50 bucks which could have been worse.

on a good note though, when i finally get everything i need for the install pics will definately be posted on here!!

Which mount location? Fabric would probably be better in an A pillar or upper window mount as generally they are a bit less harsh/bright than metal domes are.

Mine are in the door pulls atm, but I am trying to find some DLS 3 way crossovers that have a seperate midrange box to allow my midranges to play up to around 7k (and all of the vocal range) and then move my tweets up to the dash/a pillar area and just let them play the sparkly stuff and keep my soundstage out of one source driver basically. Probably looking for a 1/2" to 3/4" tweet to handle that range and be a small footprint to mount up there.

Then I just need to fab up a slightly better mount to get some better angle from the midrange and lower it a bit to keep it from being blocked by the door panel and I would be golden ( I think? I hope? heheh)

If you are trying to keep it stealth install wise I would probably use the surface mount cup for the tweets (the one that allows the most angle adjustment) and mount them as high as I could behind the factory grill without having them blocked by the door panel (the piece that runs above the grill and below the controls).

Other option would be in the door pull as it is not very far away from the mid in that location. Problem with either is blockage from the body, either the leg with the lower mount or the arm while driving with the door pull mount. The door pull location will raise the stage a bit however which is nice and why ultimately I went there (for the time being heh)

Also being that you are going 2 way you can make a mount for the mid that moves it up as far as you can within the confines of the factory hole which will help imaging a bit as well. Could also make your mount angle the speaker up a bit into the cabin if you want to get custom style.

now thats a idea i didnt think about is to angle the mids upward as well as raising them towards the top.does vrum make a bracket like that?usually my arm isnt blocking the door cup so that wouldnt be to bad for me but i was thinking of mounting the tweets in the pilar post if thats not to far away from the mids and will sound good.your opinion on that idea?
