Anyone experiencing problems with fading bars in the digital dash? I had to replace my cluster with a rebuilt one, but after 6 months, some of the bars on the display faded again. Thank goodness for the 1 yr warranty.
sorry i can't help with your problem, but where did you get yours rebuilt? having some analogue gauge problems with mine.
as for LCD's in general, they are usually connected to the rest of the circuit board via a thin rubber french fry looking thing. the rubber french fry has conductive material embedded in it and is sandwiched between the LCD glass and the circuit board. if the french fry is out of alignment, it may lower the voltage at one of the segments, possibly cause it to fade.
the LCD's in our cluster, however, may have a direct soldered-and-wired connection to the external cluster connector, since it is just a simple, "dumb" display, controlled from the CCM.
I went to a local Chevy dealer, who in turn sent it to a shop up in Baltimore, MD. I also found another repair shop in NY that does this kind of work. If you would like the contact #, let me know.
My concern is that perhaps the CCM is sending erroneous data to the display...
