complete bose overhaul - HELP!!!!
my dad is tired of the BOSE system in his 1991 vert. what we really want to do is completely update the system - new speakers (w/out! the individual amps), new head unit, the whole nine. at present we have removed the head unit, the tuner unit (from behind the glove box, the dash is off, etc.....
i've done several searches on the subject but the info seems sketchy at best....perhaps i'm not searching correctly...
has anyone done a complete update of the bose system? can anyone point me/us to any threads, sites, info on doing such a thing.....we're not really that worried about taking the whole thing apart to rewire, just looking for a bit of direction.
thanks guys!

Check back in if you have specifc questions; you can do it yourself with the info in the FAQ section. As stated above Andy Bogus knows a lot about this stuff; He helped me by answering the questions that I had when I did mine-great guy.
Good luck, Randy
the car isn't with me in frankfort....it's at my fathers, a bit of a ways a away...
we charged ahead anyway, and here's what we have....
new stereo is "installed" (for the moment) - ran new speakers wire, made some baffles, etc (i left the pictures there - doh!).
new stuff works and sounds good, but.......
the only problem is the power antenna - it won't go up or down. we've boogered around a bit and figured out where the relays, etc were....if we ran a wire (obviously just for testing purposes
) - straight off the battery and into the orange wire on the relay located behind the driver, all the way in the back corner - with this temp wire in place the antenna worked normally, and the dome lights came back (which we didn't notice werent working until this made them work????
). the only thing i can think is that the motor for the antenna is not getting constant power - which it obviously needs to make the antenna go down after the ignition is turned off. there is a "constant" wire that is hot within the dash on one of the harnesses that used to plug into the head unit - and the only thing that makes sense to me is that this wire's juice needs to get back to that relay somehow....
any suggestions from here - it's late, and i'm trying to be as specific as possible.
thanks again
