Amp Details please...
I know some of you really like Rockford Fosgate and others really hate it. For those of you that dislike their products, can you say why? Part 2: I want 2 amps - 1 Four Channel at around 100 watts per and then a sub amp at around 4-500 watts. Both into 4 ohms. I'm looking at about $450 to spend on each. I really want high quality so that takes presidence. For you audiophiles, what do you recommend ?

Fosgate is OK as mid level equipment goes. But people just try to pass it off as the best there is. This is not true. In car terms it would be something like a Camaro SS. Cool car, but not a Z06, Viper, Porsche 911 or a Ferrari. Take a look at the A/D/S amps and see if you like them. Here's a site that sells them. http://www.mmxpress.com
They are extremely strong for their ratings. They also are very clean, crisp, and provide great punch. They are a bit pricey for your range but they are worth every penny.
I'd bet the ranch on the P450 vs the RF G600 any day and they are similarly priced. The shop I worked at carried both brands and may other quality ones. Though every company says they rate their amps by a certain standard, they are full of it. Its like comparing pounds to kilograms. You have to convert.
Here is how we rule of thumbed converted to get equivilents:
Power From convert to get equivalent
Deck Divide power by 5
Sony, kenwood, clarion, pioneer,
most other Headunit maker amps Divide power by 2
Alpine, soundstream, yamaha,
fosgate, precision power Multiply by .75
Nakamichi, A/D/S As rated
I have nothing against the Fosgates, I just have experienced much higher quality products. Its like the first time you drove a car. It was great. But when you first drove a fast car you fell in love. Then the first time you drove a vette, you realized not all fast cars were created equal.

The same site also has AudioBahn 2000 leftover amps pretty cheap. I haven't used them but I have heard good things about them. Might be worth a look. You can get some of them at half price.
