Well, I have heard everybody say how crappo this stereo was. I have been waiting 7 weeks for my car to get here to see what everybody was talking about. I got the car last week. I have had time to learn the stereo and how to use and adjust it....and I can't figure out what everybody was talking about. I think it sounds great and everybody I take for a ride comments first on how great the stereo sounds. Maybe I am not a big enough audio enthusiast to know what I am missing, but I couldn't be happier with the stereo.....and everything else too!

How good is the FM receiver and reception? Does it have alot of static in the strong signal and does it loose the signal?
I have to wonder if the stereo is the same as what's in the 2005 1SA package with no nav? We would have to know what is used in the 2007 year that is equivalent to the 2005 year and option.

I'd say this is the answer to your question. Just curious, how old are you? I find most of the older owners are satisfied with the current stereo(don't know what to listen for), while younger more affluent stereo enthusiasts tend to notice and want the factory stereo to be on the same level as the performance of the car. To be honest, you really don't see the short comings of most systems untill you start to really turn up the volume and a lot of the older owners don't drive their cars like that. They tend to use it as background music.
So to answer your question, GM built a car stereo for the market it sells this type of car to.....OLDER MALE MARKET If you notice, the F-body was cheaper, but had a better stereo....it was built for the younger market !

auhhh yes! The car was cheaply built, but it did have (2) 6.5" coaxials w/ dome tweeters in doors, (2) 6.5" subs in rear seat area, (2) 3" full range speakers in hatch, and a big factory amp....all for the target age group!
Yeah IDK what gm was thinking speakers in the hatch at least on bose it was a sub in the hatch but monsoon its mids and highs wtf where they thinking.
Did an 02 SS for a kid at work. All Polk Momo
Momo Components in the doors
Momo Components in kickpanels
Momo Components in rear sail panels
Momo Components in the hatch (i didnt wanna do it)
2 Momo 4 Channel Amps c400.0 (100X4)
2 Momo Mono Blocks c500.1 (500X1)
2 Polk Momo 12s in the fancy momo enclosures they used a few years ago
And one high end Alpine is was one of the 600+ retail dollar units
At the time it was retardly loud to me and the highs where just way too much
The Bose sound OK until you use it in every day use. Rolling the windows down or (Gawd forbid) take the top off and you may well be wanting more. For a show room presentation it works just fine.

Doing this in his car, though he already has the Infinity's running off the Monsoon head and I'm hoping to talk him into upgrading:
Alpine CDA9857 HU
Subthump 10" Driver side stealth box
Subthump 10" Passenger side stealth box
Subthump extended amp rack
2-JL Audio 10W3v2
2-JL Audio 250/1 Class D amps
1-JL Audio 300/4 Class A/B amp
4-Infinity Kappa 62.7i speakers
Not trying to be a smart _$$ here, but if you young guys are just dying to blow your ears out with volume, why don't you use some kind of earphones rather than tearing the crap out of your nice cars and bolting crappy looking trinkets to the dash and such things? Can't you get your volume that way without spending as much cash and tearing up your car? I don't understand your ways. I am old.

Personally I'm not an SPL freak, though sometimes when you're driving along with the top down (or off) and a great song is playing it just can't be loud enough. Practically anybody with passion for music and these cars knows that feeling. But unfortunately for my wallet I have been an audiophile and home theater nut for a long time. Once you hear the difference it's darned hard to listen to stock speakers. Believe me, I tried to tell myself the Bose were good enough for top down listening, but once I heard my Focals after hooking them up, was worth every penny, drop of sweat and even the blood my car took as sacrifice!

first that is a subjective statement. What you think is a crappy looking trinket may be beautiful to others. Second, Driving with Headphones is against the law, so I will assume that you were in fact being a 'smart a*'.
Long durations of distorted audio is very fatiguing. When you have the top down and are tying to listen to some music (at speed) you are giong to be pushing the limits of the stock bose system. Most of our systems will be much more pleasurable when the top or windows are down. Lets not even factor in an exhaust.
Pure SPL isn't the goal of a lot of us in this subforum. at least for me, since i can't speak for everyone; undistorted sound is more of my objective. I would go out on a limb to say that i'm among the majority though.
If you look at most of our threads we very rarely talk about 1200 watts of power! or 154 db! rather we talk about quality components, proper eq'ing and off the wall gadgetry. I for one, view my car as more of a hobby rather than a shrine. So if it's a tricket I want, it's a trinket i'm going to get. I think it's a great thing to see so many people modifying thier cars.
I'm very happy that you are pleased with your stereo, but please don't insult the brothers in this forum.

Well, from what I thought I was reading and writing.....
1. I said I was happy with the stereo.
2. I was told I was old and not affluent enough to know what I should be listening for.
3. Most posters said their key complaint was not enough volume.
4. I said if you want volume why don't you get earphones instead of bolting crap to your car.
5. You said I am insulting "The brothers"
