hey guys, i finally decided that it was time to redo my butchered stereo system on my 85. the previous owner had sloppily put the stereo together with a new cd deck, cut off all the speaker amps and just connected them all to a 600 watt power amp. wires are exposed everywhere, nothing was soldered together, most wires were connected just by being twisted together. guhh.
so here's what i'm wondering about:
the deck is a 200 watt, would that be enough to just pull out the speaker amps and run the speakers directly off of it?
if i were to remove the speaker amps, how do i go about doing that? i've been looking through guides and books but can't find anything more specific than "remove speaker and speaker amplifier."
would it be a better idea to just leave the speaker amps out of the equation and run everything off of the 600 watt that i already have?
Pull all the crap head unit and speakers/amps out and start over new. It will make it a hell of a lot easier and better sound. JMO Best not to mix and match.
Do a search and you will find the link that will show step by step removal of the door speakers/amps. I replaced the fronts with 6 1/2'' and the rears with 8'' subs powered by an amp under pass seat. Kicks the $hit out of my old bose
Kenwood in the dash, all previous bose wires left in place, all bose speakers/amps removed. 4x6 in the dash, 6x9 in the rear, 2 amps a cap and a 10" sub in the back, ran all new wires to all 4 corners and power to the back.
good day project if you want to do it all correctly. it doesn't have to be expensive, just as much as you want to spend to get what you want.
