Default Need how to for sub box

Does anyone have a good link on how to build your own sub box? I am interest in a reinforcing detail for the corners & a detail on mounting the sub (just mount on top or flush mount, etc). I am using 3/4 MDF for a 0.5 cf box- do I even need corner reinforcing? What about the mounting surface?

Also where is a good place to get a terminal to mount on the outside of the box?

Thanks.

there are plans for a c5 'stealth box' in the faq fyi, but that isn't what you asked. JL audio has a pretty good tutorial on box building. if you are building the c5 box though, you dont need any bracing. it has a few angles and no long flat areas. terminal cups can be purchased at partsexpress but you really can just drill a hold in the box for speaker wire and then caulk up the hole. i believe eatrice uses machine bolts and nuts to make his own terminals, but you should wait for his reply before going that route.

Just use wood glue and nails, that should be fine. Get everything square so you'll avoid leaks. Edesignaudio.com has dimensions for boxes, their 10" requires .5 cubic feet. You can get dimensions there. Good luck.

avoid perfect squares though. i've built boxes with just brads and wood glue (the glue does all the work once it's set up) i even know of someone that has a box constructed completely with only mdf and wood glue. he has two twelve idmax subs powered from a 1200wrms ed nine.1 amp

Scotts right, the glue does all the work. After I bought the terminal connectors I decided to just drill the box run the wire through and then silicone the hole. It just eliminates a possible source for a bad connection.
