No control over passengers side from drivers side - help!
So I am enjoying a night of hitting the twisties after swapping out my trans fluid and a NEW annoying rattle decides to pop up. It is coming from the passenger door electronic controls or somewhere near there. I give it the usual smack and nothing happens, I revert to blindly feeling around (still playing on mountain roads) and hit the window control and the passenger window comes down about half way. The rattle disappears and so does all control over that side of the car, no matter what lock/window control I hit. I finally decide to pull over and take a look and after manually unlocking the door the controls decide to wake up again and I can lock/unlock and roll the window up and down like nothing happened. As soon as I get back on the road I lose control of the passenger side from my drivers controls but still can make everything work from the passenger side.
The only thing I can think of is the harness for that side is coming loose, just enough to lose control from the drivers side and still have control from passenger seat. The lights stayed lit on the passenger controls the whole time too.
so it seems like the switches work on the passenger side, but the modules on that side aren't getting any power. When I hit the lock/unlock on the pass door I can hear the drivers side working - and when I hit lock/unlock on the key fob the drivers side works but not the passenger side. Also I am back to no control over the pass window.
Going to look for the thread that shows how to remove the door panels and control assemblies - anybody know a good thread off the top of their heads?
nope, not right now. I have a power probe that will come in handy and the full 3-book service manual that will hopfully lay out what connector/wire does what so I can begin the troubleshooting. if it's broken wires in the door I am gonna be pissed, re-wiring isn't necessarily one of my favorite things to do. hopefully I can get in there and clean/secure all the connections and things will magically start working again. but realistically I am woking on a vette so nothing is ever easy...
