GPS Antenna
To those of you who have installed an AVIC NAV unit in a C5, where did you place the GPS antenna? Another question: did you have to make your own brackets to install the NAV unit (D1-D2 type) or are they commercially available?

I mounted mine inside the rear bumper fascia..right above the plate..nice little ledge there...works PERFECT!! You can access the area by removing one of your tail lights..real easy! I did make a couple small sheet metal brackets to attach the Head Unit to the cage..again...it was pretty straight forward. Then I modified the cage a bit by lowering the HVAC support bracket(involves drilling out 4 rivets and re-attaching with 4 small nuts and screws with some Lock-Tite) to give me more clearance... Hope this helps.

Basically any place NOT directly under metal of any kind will work great!! The satellite tracking the antenna cannot work correctly through metal... then again, I am sure you knew that already...
