I was at Car Toys in Dallas this afternoon looking for a nav unit for my new '07 C6 w/out bose. They told me the new '07 head unit no longer has the accessory wire run behind it. So they have to use some adaptor to install the Eclipse AVN6600 htat is $200 plus $300 in labor just to get the unit installed. Does this sound right or should I look for a new shop to do the install?
Are they quoting an hourly rate or did they just come up with that number? It seems a bit high, however reputable companies will demand $50-$100 per hour depending on where they are located and how good they are.
if it's just the matter of finding an acc. lead then it should cost about 10 cents in parts and maybe 15 bucks in labor. but i'm not 100% sure it's just that. it sounds like they are talking about oem interface module. did you read the c6 faq? your answer may be inthere
I did read as much as I could find including the DYI threads. However, they said this was a new "issue" to the '07s so the DYI wouldn't apply. They told me it would take from 4-6 hours to get the job done.
Well I'm not sure about the problem they are talking about but if it will take up to 6 hours to complete, the price seems normal if they are quoting it at $50 an hour. It might not actually take that long, but they are probably covering themselves incase they run into issues.
Yea the $300 part sounded a bit high, but reasonable. My main question was about the $200 adapter they claim to need because it is an 07. They said if it was an '06 the adapter wouldn't have been needed...
