I'm helping a buddy do a system in his '02 Z28 and we hit a snag today. Had planned to drive a pair of JL 10W3V2 D4 (dual 4 ohm voice coil) each with it's own JL 250/1. Space has reared it's ugly head and we have some clearance issues for mounting the 3 amps so here comes the question....
If we wired the pair parallel it will show 4 ohms to a single amp and the 250/1 will put 250W from 1.5-4 ohms, so it's a workable plan to drive both subs from the single amp. I don't have alot of sub experience but I know you don't get something for nothing, so what are we giving up by running them parallel like that? I suspect it's just that we're not utilizing the full SPL potential of the subs and if that's the case I think that will be fine, as 2 10's in that cabin should drive PLENTY of air for his purposes. But since I don't know if there's anything I figured I'd ask the experts here for info/advice.
Since the JL amp does 250 from 1-4ohms or whatever it is you will be using the amp to its peak potential, obvioulsly with one amp each sub gets 125wrms vs 250each if you used 2 amps.

In otherwords its fine
Thanks for the confirmation Greg, much appreciated.
