Default Full visor movement with V1 mounting

Thanks for the info Indy. Are you able to get full motion out of the visor in the "down" position with your V1 mounted in that method?

Rick, can you advise if your customers can get full movement in the down position with your mount?

With the Great Lakes bracket my visor will rotate almost full motion before it hits the V1, approx. 135 deg., very usable. Because the Great Lakes bracket does bounce a bit on rough roads I tried that other bracket and it is extremely solid and well-made, but the visor is not usable, 90 deg. at best, IIRC, so I went back to my Great Lakes bracket.

That's good to know. Thank you.

Boat Racer,
Depending on the detector, yes our bracket does limit the travel of the visor, it will go a little more than 90 degrees without unlatching the visor. Generally you would not want to have it down and blocking the detectors rear facing sensor, also in order to get the location of the detector below the tint line our bracket drops down a bit more than others. If you are not happy with the mount once you try it I will gladly refund your money. In my case I can say the detectors location is a benefit 99% of the time, that other 1% I can live with.

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks Rick. I will probably mount the V1 on the passenger side visor were I don't think the visor movement limitation will be a problem.

I received the V1 mount and 20" cord in the mail today so I went ahead and installed both. Everything went according to the directions. I notice a little up and down vibration of the V1 on some roads now. I went down to Home Depot and bought a 1" rubber plug and wedged it between the V1 and the mounting bracket. I think that will solve the V1 vibration movement now. It's easy to see and reach the controls while mounted on the passenger side visor. Thanks Rick for a nice product.

Question: Does anyone know what the little light is for that is connected to the passenger side visor mount?

Boat Racer,
Glad you received the items. On the up and down movement. You are using the mounting plate that came with your V1 visor clip correct? Also is it push in all the way? It should click when visor clip tab snaps in to the slot on our mount. I know some have tried using the suction cup clip assembly. You should not see any movement.

Rick

That is probably the cause of the up and down vibration that I'm seeing. I am using the visor mounting plate that came with my V1 visor clip but it didn't snap into place. I slid it on your bracket as far as it could go without forcing it too hard. There is a tab that sticks out on the V1 bracket that hits the rear of your bracket. It looks like this tab is supposed to slip past the rear of your bracket and then pop down into the small cutout slot in your bracket further forward. But on my V1 bracket, it seems too tight to slip past where the tab hits the end of your bracket. I tried to force it to the point where I was worried about breaking the plastic V1 bracket. Is there a trick to doing this that I'm missing?

Looks cool, but it would seem to me that this set up is an invitation to have your car broken in to. There must be a better location for it.

The glued it with gorilla glue since the aftermarket bracket wasn't as wide as the V1's top mounts slot and it wiggled side to side when muting it.

Hope this makes it more understandalble until I get my cam back.

Default base model

I have the standard base model LT1 c6. Can my rear view mirror accept the invisacord? This mirror has no options built in other than the passenger air bag light and the two buttom on each side for the interior lights. Thanks for any feedback

It depends. If your mirror harness only has 4 wires going into it, then you can use the Invisicord, but you have to manually turn your detector on/off. If your mirror has 2 rows of wires, then your mirror is the updated standard that either will turn off with the ignition, or will at least cut power after the 10 minute accessory shutdown.

Team speed,
So, either way the mirror has "power" to receive an invacord?

Do a search for Valentine One and you will find good info!!
I did and installed mine with the remote display mounted on the steering wheel cover just below the DIC. Perfect placement, easy to see and does not block DIC. Unit is mounted with visor mount on right side. In my vert with top down no lights show up on main unit at night(all displays are on remote). People behind you cant see you have a dectector. Used phone cord and add a fuse at fuse panel under carpet on passenger side. Really easy to run wire up pillars and over to unit. Hardest part was feeding phone cord through/under console/dash from passenger side to drivers side. Hint: fish a wire through then tape the phone wire to it and pull through!! Makes a neat install.

Hey Wayback,

That is how I have the V1 installed in my current car, and I'm planning the same setup in my C6 once it gets here. Any chance you have a picture of the remote display as mounted on your dash that you could post?

This is exactly how mine is installed. I did have a bit of a vibration from the V1 in its mount (not the great lakes part) which I stopped by sticking a 1/2in strip of velcro (the soft side) on the underside of the V1curved mount (1 on each side) just inboard of where it attaches to the detector. Keeps the V1 pushed down and now if doesn't vibrate at all.
