Front speaker replacement on an '80 C3
How hard is it to replace the speakers on an '80 C3? My speakers are just starting to sound fuzzy. I'd like to replace them myself if I can. Figured it would be better to ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.

Tim, it is an easy task. The grills pry up to expose the speaker. The speaker size is 4x6". The wire colors are: front/left Tan +, Grey - front/right Lt Green +, Dk Green -.

replaceing dash speakers are easy , but what i just did on my 82, was added 2 more 4x6 speakers to the lower kick panels .holes are all ready there ,just run wires. better bass ,fuller sound . :cool:

The best thing to do is to put in new 4x6 up top. If you feel like upgrading, you can add an amp and front seperates. This is a tweeter and a midrange. The tweeter would go in the dash location with an adapter and you would put the midrange in the door. If you haven't gotten any holes cut in the door yet, a 5 1/4 should be the correct size. Check with a sterio shop as its been years since I opened up that door. You may even be able to go up to a 6 1/2. The second alternative is to just install a coax(mid and tweet in one) in the door and forget the dash. If you can fit a 6 1/2 it will sound much better. I still have never ever heard of any good 4x6 and there is no way you can get one to make anything that resembles bass. If you need more info on any of these options, let me know.
