Default IPOD2CAR problem

As easy as it has been relayed to me, I am having problems getting this to work.

My car: 2000 Coupe with a CD Changer (I removed years ago).

I bought this:

Comes with three cables: PXHGM1-2-3 According to the instructions I am to use the PXHGM2 cable. The company told me that is plugged into the head unit, but when you do this, you have not power to the unit.

Here is a picture of the cable:

So I tried this cable...the PXHGM1 and it plugged in with a little alteration, but my radio did not recognive the ipod.

Here is a picture of that cable

Here is the rear of my radio:

Here are the rear connectors:

Anyone have anything to add? I would love to get this hooked up and mounted. I just don't understand why this is so difficult for something I have been told numerous times is an easy install.

Thanks,

Micah

well if you look in the faq it shows needing that cable and on cruthchfield it says for the vette you need it, so idk what to tell you. did you try seeing if you could plug it in somehow at the changer plug in the trunk... forum member dpg has used one of these hopefully he can chime in on how his install went

I just bought the same iPod2car @ BestBuy. I have no CD changer. I ordered the following cable from Cruthfield.
541GMH20T Peripheral Car Cable Adapter GM 20 Pin T harness. The instruction state that I use the PXHGM2 cable for my install.

I am not sure what Crutchfield is doing but their iPod2car is $149.00 + $19.95 for the cable they recommend that is OOS with no re-stocking date.

I bought my ipod for $99.00 and and $26.00 for the cable above. Based on others with more experience than me, this will work just fine.

Someone said that Crutchfield was selling an all purpose iPod2car and their cable. (Does not seem likely to me).

Check out this thread.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Tuvi5nU...arch=541GMH20T does appear to be the right cable... they may have changed model numbers which is why the other one shows as not in stock

I called their tech support and they claim the cable that is OOS is the correct cable. If you plug in the cable I ordered for the 97-04 C5, they claim it will not work. Makes me question what crutchfield is doing.

Just checked. The cables are different at least in the pictures @ Crutchfield!!.

I called them too, and I am going to see if I can't find this cable elsewhere.

Thanks for the help.

I think you are right, assuming the cable is still there. supposedly over in right foot well. As I understand it, teh cable i ordered is for cars with no CD changer cable available.

I have to say, the iPod2car instructions suck!

I know, but I removed everything including the wiring, so I have to go the "plug into the head unit" route.

No, I am now frustrated, so I am putting things back together and I ordered the cable referenced above for $10 off of cardomain.com, should be here the end of the week. No worries. I do appreciate the help.

Yes, I saw this post and was hoping I could do it too, but I was missing the top posted relay, so I ordered the item I need, should be here mid-week and hopefully, I will have things working soon!

Sorry we didn't get it completed. Looks like you are on the right track now. I have to admit that the documentation for this product really sucks!

It won't be long before you can trade in Jerry Reed, Eastbound and Down for Rob Zombie, Living Dead Girl!

oh man, sorry i missed this post. It is a fairly easily install if they can send you the right parts. and it is pretty damn confusing as to what you need to order. When you recieve your parts and are still having trouble, please let us know. Ill keep an eye out for this thread. Also, If I understand correctly, when you pulled the changer, you pulled the wirign for it as well? up to the pass footwell? Or is the cd changer cable still there in the trunk area?
