Default A few questions about Eclipse HUs

I'm thinking about upgrading my current set up to include DVD and NAV and am not that impressed with the units that Alpine has to offer, so I'm thinking of heading in the Eclipse direction and have a few questions:

1. Is overriding the DVD while driving feature as simple as just grounding the parking brake wire? On the Alpines, a PAC-TR7 will bypass the feature. On Pioneer, it is a gyro and not possible (unless you use the back up cam input)

2. Does Eclipse offer XM? I only see an ad on for Sirius. Most other companies offer you the choice. I already have an XM subscription and don't feel like converting.

3. How much is involved to get all features of NAV to work in the C6? I'm talking about the VSS wire, GPS antenna, and any other "gotchas"?

Appreciate in advance any info you can provide.

Can't answer #1 for ya, sorry.

As far as #2 goes, I've never seen Eclipse offer XM.

For #3, check out this installation thread that's linked in the C6 Audio FAQ:

It shows everything you have to do.

XM and Sirius are in the midst of a merger pending government approval, so it is likely there will be some sort of dual broadcast option in the near future.

As far as the Eclipse units themselves, most people certainly like them. Lot of people have the Avic line in their vettes however. I can only speak to the SQ of the Eclipse units as I have not had any experience with the video units.

Wow, both Audio Dave and _Nomads_ write up were great. I think I got all my questions answered. Thanks for the quick response.

Ha Lars I looked at the system your talking about and went with the Pioneer 2d because of the XM and I really didn't want the DVD anyway. Hope to see you soon at a PSP function.
