Soundgate
I have read many many many post throughout the audio section on this soundgate harness. Being that I am a simple minded person, some of these post just go right over my head. Just for piece of mind before I get in over my head, I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. I am installing an aftermarket in-dash DVD, keeping the stock Bose speakers and adding 2 10" subs with their own amp. Is the Soundgate harness the only thing that needs to be purchased and is it actually a plug and play type of installation ? The reason I am asking is because throughout certain threads people go into: what about this wire, how come I need this other adapter, and the list goes on and on and gets more and more confusing. Thanks for helping me get through the confusion

Your Bose are gonna sound like crap with the soundgate adaptor. Why not save the $85 from the adaptor and get some new front speakers? Then you'll just need the $8 generic GM wiring harness and run a couple speaker wires which is real easy. I kept the factory rear bose in mine for a little rear sound and they still sound o.k. and your subs will be giving you all the bass you need....
I cant for the life of me figure out this system (mumbles four letter words under breath). So If you are replacing the HU AND front speaker, then you DO NOT need a soundgate or chime adapter? But then you will not get the chimes that play through the speakers when you leave the lights on or something right? Is there a way to retain that? Is there anything else that works off of the stereo that Ill lose if I replace the bose junk without an adapter. Seems like everything in this car is tied together somehow!
