I know that blows your stealth so I would also add that there is plenty of room under the factory grill around the "10" to surface mount a tweeter and still have the grill clear. It might bring the soundstage down into the doors a little bit, but with the right aiming and measuring, you could probably get decent sound out of it.

As for power, one side of a JL audio 300/4 runs the 8"s and the other runs the component. Mines a vert so no problems "stealthing" my amps in the trunk. They dont play super low, but they sound good and shake the **** out of my mirrors, which is nice if you are into that.

So far my only problem with the Kickers has been over driving them. They get a lot of air to work with in my giant door cavity so they dont get much dampening. Bass below 50Hz can over extend them at volume so Ive tried to be very precise with my levels and crossover points
Which Alpine component set? You mounted the mid in the upper factory location?

The one place I might make an exception would be small tweeter mounts on the dash/A pillar, if it could be done in a clean, un-tacked-on way, and makes a big difference in sound. How are your tweets mounted?

They are the Alpine Type X's with the 4" cone. Id have to read the box to find the model number. I have the 6.5 Type R's in my Grand Cherokee and the tweeters for both sound sweeeeeeet IMHO, so Im pro Alpine. I do tend to like it bright but both crossovers provide a jumper to attenuate if needed. I wanted a little on the bright side anyway for the vert

I ended up repurposing the factory BOSE 3.5s as the mid of my component set (Here comes the flames). They were an exact fit and they arent covering too much of the spectrum. They played a little more efficiently than the Alpines, so it makes it a good fit for summing to create a center channel from the factory BOSE driver.....which ironically I needed once I settled on the A pillar base for the tweeters.

I knew I wanted the woofer in the door so using the factory mid location for a mid was a foregone conclusion for me. The type X 4" has such a beefy magnet, I would have been altering fiberglass in the door to make them fit. I couldnt do it so I auditioned the BOSE and it works, minus the big jump in efficiency. A resistor, some EQ and moving the tweeter jumper and it really smoothed out.

If I ever feel like I need something different, the 3.5 BAs get good reviews and would likely be my answer for replacing the BOSE. As it turns out I have a pair of Alpine Type X 4"s sitting in a box. I do wonder what sound I would have gotten with the 8"s and the BA 3.5s but, projects like these are a journey and I have enjoyed the trial and error.

I plan on posting the install when I get the amp cover vinyl-ed but If I get a pic of the tweets, Ill post that one in advance

I got A-pillar tweeter pics posted finally

I used some foam under the vinyl to give some cushion under the tweets. that way the joints of the compund curves and the flats on the tweeter did not make a gap

drivers side close

pass side

and the wide shot showing the pass tweeter and the location of the master volume **** of the cleansweep
