I'm thinking of getting a Garmin Nuvi 350. Has anyone installed a nav system in a '92-'96? If so where did you mount it? Pics? Any problems getting signal? Anything else you think I should know? Thanks.

GARMIN & TOMTOM seem to be the MOST POPULAR but I prefer a GPS with a display larger than the 3.5 Nuvi 350. Maybe it's my old age. I've used a TOMTOM with 3.5" screen for over a year in the DAV van I drive and when I purchased one for our September trip to Bowling Green I got one with the 5" screen...much better. I've had it for a couple months have done several test trips locally. Worked great. The documentation with mine leaves much to be desired but it didn't take me long to master using it beacuse of my experience with the TOMTOM and that with an Audiovox I used a couple times. I got a cheapie ($155+ $10 S&H) unit from Computer Geeks and so far it's given me as much as I have seen with the more pricier brands. GPS units are being discounted more and more each month and like LCD TVs the triend will probably continue. I'm hooked on them! Mine is currently mounted under the mirror just left of the V1.
Whoa, that is sweeeeet! Did you have to do any mods to get that to fit?
most radios have more depth to them than the stock radio. So not anymore so than any other aftermarket radio. A little bit of plastic directly behind the radio needs to be removed.
What model TomTom has a 5" screen? The largest I could find was 4".
You are correct. I found same for TomTom. Sorry, the one I got is no longer available from GEEKS. I just did a search for 5 INCH DISPLAY GPS
( http://computershopper.com/top-produ..._5_gps_devices )and did'nt find many 5 inch display models listed and they were relatively expensive.

Excellent! My Christmas list just got a bit longer
I went with an in dash one. Eclipse Avn-6600 with ipod adapter in the center console.
I have an Pioneer AVIC-D2 in my 92 that looks almost identical to your Eclipse. Do you have the nag message everytime you go into GPS display mode that tells you to hit "OK" to accept what may be bs directions everytime? I'm so sick of this and the disable on the unit's controls when the car is moving that I'm ready to ditch the Pioneer in spite of the time and money spent installing it.
I just picked up a Lowrance iWay 250 totally portable GPS navigation and i am scratching my head trying to figure a way to mount it on the center consol under the radio infront of the shifter... I want to make a bracket because i definatly do not want to stick velcrow to the dash.

All navigation units have that "i agree" button when you first turn it on to cover their **** from being sued. I have the ebrake wire permanently grounded so nothing is disabled while the car is moving.

I bought an iWay 500C for $600 and it plays mp3's. It has the 5" screen. Can't beat that price(well two years ago you couldn't)

I used the Ram mount that came with my unit and bought extra Ram mounts for the other vehicles.
I just bought a garmin nuvi 360 and couldn't be happier with it. It comes with the winshield mount or dash mount. I use the winshield mount. It holds on very strong. If you spend the extra $100 bucks, you can get the 360 instead of the 350, which gives you bluetooth for your phone. I love it, its handsfree and also transmits your phonebook and everything else to the garmin. The only thing is your cell has to be bluetooth.
