Pick which one based on the content. Each has its group of fanboys who will rant & rave about the other one being better. But reality is they're just different. I prefer the style XM chose for the bulk of their music channels - no DJ, just play the songs. Sirius' music channels are more like commercial radio where you get a good bit of DJ chatter.
Beyond the music then again, it's the other content. I have switched to Sirius because I'm a NASCAR fan and their NASCAR channel is WAY better than XM's ever was. Sirius Speed with Dave Moody (3-7pm Eastern) is a great sports talk show regardless of the sport they're talking about. But if you're a Stern fan, Sirius is a no-brainer. NFL fan, again Sirius. Major League Baseball and NHL, then it's XM.
Look at the channel lineups, whichever looks better to you, that's the one to choose.
Oh, and don't hold your breath waiting for the merger. It has a ton of lobbying and lawyers to survive, if it does.
From: Frankenstein never scared me. Marsupials do, because they're fassst…and they DART, THAT'S crazy!

I prefer XM for several reasons. The music and sports content and the fact you get more "bling" and goodies like Nav Traffic and active icons with XM that Serius doesn't offer. Also, I am into NCAA College Football and XM has a channel for every conference.
However, both XM and Serius have the same sucky sound quality.

That about says it all. I have Sirius in the vette and XM in my other car. I don't miss XM when I listening to Sirius or the other way around.
Sirius..better music programming & content. Some XM music channels have commercials. ..I have 3 units and couldn't be happier..Theystill outsell XM 3 to 1..
