Paging 99HT

Didn't you once say you were planning to attempt using the Bose 8" sub's with their amps in the rear compartments? Any progress or update on that?
Are those speakers 2ohm? If they were, I was thinking about reusing mine (separate enclsoure in rear) wired in series and driven by a bridged Alpine amp.
I updated my FRC base cassette system to a modified Bose CD HU and new speakers. It sounds pretty good now and I need some incentive to try and improve it. The Pioneer TSA-1765 6.75" speakers I chose for the front have very good bass and highs for their size. The 5.25" Polk's I chose for the rear have been a dissapointment though. The rear speaker placement and housings in the FRC suck big time. You can never get bass out of an FRC rear speaker housing since it is open in the rear and the speakers do not point toward the occupants, so you get no highs.
With hindsight, I would do it all different. I would use seperate component speakers in the front with pillar mount tweeters and rear speakers with swivel tweeters. For the front I would buy 8" woofers, re-use the 3.5" Bose midrange and add pillar tweeters. I would make my own crossovers or use seperate low power amps to drive each speaker individually. With new 8" woofers, I might not need a sub amp.
Unfortunately since my FRC did not have the Bose system, there are no Bose speaker housings in the doors and it made adding component speakers too big a hassel for me at the time. FRC's with the base system only have one big hole in the door. For the rear I would buy different speakers and try to seal the housings. I now have all the Bose modules, speaker housings and duplicates of all the speakers. If I want to change my system now, I have everything I need.
