AVIC D3 Install C5
I'll spend whatever it takes to achieve my goals with this car.
Recently I bought audio equipment to replace the Bose system & looked for a place install it. Each one scared me away as they made it seem impossible to install a double din in a 1 1/2 space and said they would do their best but they were unsure if I'd be pleased.
So I took the car away and began going at it and have it almost completed. Keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about electric/wiring.
What I have done so far is run all of the wiring, mounted the amps, installed sub/box, installed all new speakers, battery terminals/fuse holders etc, mounted nav antenna and trimmed the radio surround for the headunit to fit.
Now all there is left is to wire the headunit. I have it set to play dvds and do nav. while the car is moving already. Have the RSS wire hooked up.
What I need help with is going through each wire and making sure it doesn't need to be hooked up or if it does to where. If there are instructions that are very clear on this that would work otherwise I'll need some help!
Thank you

You'll need an adapter for the antenna to fit.
You'll need an adapter to plug into the car harness that you removed from the stock head. This will give you loose leads to connect to.
You'll need the connector that plugs into your new head unit. This will also give you loose leads to connect to.
Take your time and compare the wiring schematics of both loose lead connectors (LF spkr, RR spkr, +12V, etc.). Make sure you understand them all before making permanent connections and then make sure you solder all connections. I use heat shrink tubing to insulate. Tape will work but has a tendency to come off in about six months.
You'll need to go into the passenger footwell compartment to get ACC power and it will not stay on when you turn off the car like it did stock.
Whatever you do, take your time. Doing it right the first time will make you much happier with the result.
Good Luck.
Do I have to buy an adapter to go onto the stock bose connector?
Can't you just use the connector that came with the AVIC and wire that up as needed and leave the bose connector alone?
Also I believe I got the ACC from an orange wire under the steering column if that is correct?
I am happy with how the trimming worked out because my interior is painted smooth jet black and it matches the headunit.
Thank you for your help
